Its rumoured that the arrows will be night stopping here at Hawarden for the Ryhl airshow at the weekend. Ive heared this for awhile and suspect its correct.

Given that they are also appearing at Blackpool next weekend, I would have thought that, as they do stop over night at Blackpool on a regular basis, that they would do so there. Maybe they left it too late to book hotel accommodation there!

Hi all,just read on the Valley Aviation site the following Mon 8th Aug, Red Arrows due at Valley at 0841 hrs , the routing is Hawarden / Flint / Gt Orme / Menai / Valley. hope this helps. George

It seems the info from jake3 was bang on.See schedule from Reds website for Sunday 7 August 1000 - Reds depart BOURNEMOUTH 1014 - Reds flypast CERNEY 1026 - Reds flypast SHREWSBURY 1031 - Reds arrive HAWARDEN 1249 - Reds depart HAWARDEN 1300 - Reds display RHYL 1329 - Reds recover HAWARDEN 1531 - Reds depart HAWARDEN 1545 - Reds display BLACKPOOL 1617 - Reds recover HAWARDEN cheers,newpin

Caught them today at Hawarden. On departing for the Blackpool airshow there were only 8 Reds, seemingly one went tech on start-up.
A guy on the hill has his mil scanner on and heard that Red 7 had had a bird strike to the engine, had managed to restart but was requesting an emergency landing at Blackpool. Red 6 followed him in and then caught up with the rest of the pack to return to Hawarden.
Hoping that Alex might be able to find out some details?

To further the reported bird strike to Red 7's Hawk. Reading around other sites it seems that the aircraft did indeed suffer a flame-out. The pilot had a successful relight but was not happy with the aircraft, he called this to Red 2 who was in radio comms with Blackpool approach, Red 2 called it in as a Pan but quickly upgraded to Mayday. Red 7 was offered all runways at Blackpool but he had sufficient height to make an approach to 28. The aircraft was witnesses puffing black smoke from the exhaust.
The Hawk successfully landed and remained on the runway for 20 minutes with fire service in attendance causing an approaching Jet2 to hold whilst the aircraft was pushed off the runway.
Casper does show Jet2 EXS714 from Belfast International in the BPL holding pattern for 15 minutes.
Maybe Alex could verify?

The red arrow was on the runway for so long as the engine flamed out shortly after landing. The controller in the tower at the time, Adrian Smith, asked the pilot to move off runway 28 and onto the threshold of 13. When the pilot throttled up to move, the engine surged and flamed out, leaving the jet stranded at where runway 13/31 intersects runway 10/28, prevent any traffic from departing or arriving. The Jet Provost was due to take off at this time and after staring up, was told to shut down. Whilst deciding what to do, the Jet 2 aircraft arrived (either G-CELJ or G-CELK (Can't remember which)) and entered the hold. To allow the Jet 2 land and not divert, a group of people mustered up the strength to push the stricken jet of the runway by hand, whilst a vehicle was sent up and down the runway to search for debris.
