yes thats a second palm island called palm jebel-ali. it is a good way out (15mls ish) from downtown dubai going towards abu dhabi but, as you can see, work has stopped on its development due to a lack of funds. hopefuly when the worldwide credit crunch ends, more private money will be spent over there to complete the palm and also the world islands.

the QE2 is scheduled to be berthed at a jet to be built jetty (seen in pic no.8) but at the moment she is tied up in port Rashid docks and will be for the foreseeable future, unless some money comes in for the re-furb. see attached pic: cost...i paid £611.00 from man-doha (qatar), doha-dubai, dubai-doha and back to man.all with qatar airways. stayed with my brother in qatar and a cheap appartment in dubai. sadly, you are not allowed to photograph aircraft in either dubai or qatar so i didn't spend too much time around either of the airports. on a personal note, i wasn't all that impressed with dubai in as far as, at the moment, it's a 35 mile long building site with most of the workers being laid off, so debris is everywhere. we did all the touristy stuff but, unless you love looking around shops in the 3 largest shopping malls in the world, there's not a lot else to do. happy to help with any more queries. regards.ian.

mark, maybe it was me who missunderstood, anyway, we paid 1125aed which is about £220.00 each. we opted for the silver tour simply because it lasted 40mins and because the seaplane is based so far out from central dubai that "valuable airtime" would have been wasted flying over nothing. the company is called seawings dubai, check out their site: www.seawings.aetaxi's are quite cheap in dubai but it cost us about £20.00 to get to seawings which gives you an idea of how far out they are. incidently,as an option, there is also a helicopter flight from DXB which flies along the coast but sorry have'nt got any details about it.
