A reduction of 648 flights a week means that aircraft will be underused. I can't see Ryanair letting that stand for long. Is there a chance that this slack will be spread across the UK, including Liverpool, by operating to other continental destinations? Germany, Austria and italy are destinations that could be grown from the UK - and particularly Liverpool.

Did anyone see north west tonight?
A story about a Lithuianian carrying an air pistol on a Ryanair flight, but the images used were of MAN terminal 2 and a Ryanair aircraft at MAN, whilst only 1 external shot was of LJLA.
Surely an organisation the sixe of the BBC have got an internal shot of LJLA somewhere?

I would have preferred LJLA to not be linked to this story! We need positive articles about LJLA.

When to security at Ringway was breached by reporters/researchers the story soon went dead--just another coincidence I suppose.

Regretably "sfp", it is very difficult to remove Liverpool Airport from a story centered on events at Liverpool Airport - even though it appears as the BBC North West News has tried very hard to do so by backing up the report visually with mainly Manchester 'library' shots. travel.aol.co.uk/2012/12/05/air-pistol-knife-found-ryanair-hold-passenger-removed-flight-Liverpool-airport/....and, yes, I agree a few more "positive" stories centred on LJLA airport/airlines/ passengers/events/route news etc would be nice - however, regretably news that is considered 'interesting' by the media is usually bad! Regional news (both BBC and ITV) usually appear to carry more bad news stories than good. As I refuse to be depressed at the start of each evening's viewing by the regional news coverage, I very, very rarely watch either channel's effortd - they don't yet seem to have taken any notice of my boycott though!!

Thanks for the link - I got the wrong end of the stick, I had read it as if it was a Manchester story and an image of LJLA had crept into it.

It's a fact of life that the media do not like good news. They thrive on sensationalism. There is an old adage in the media that says "do not let the truth get in the way of a good story". Mythical though it may be in many cases I, who spent many years inter-facing with the media, can vouch for its truth. With a media centre in Manchester, the local hacks are not going to get off their behinds to check the accuracy of stories so outlying areas have to live with the stories as they see them. Sad fact of life but not one to lose sleep over. You can bet your life that the media folk at LJLA are working their socks off to get positives things into the media but it is an uphill struggle.

I wonder why Riga only stayed at Manchester for the winter season? The Manchester to Riga service finishes on 27th March when the route transfers back to Liverpool.

Re Riga, It is possible that the returns ex Manchester are not as previously experienced at LPL. Why else?

I wonder why Riga only stayed at Manchester for the winter season? The Manchester to Riga service finishes on 27th March when the route transfers back to Liverpool. Just an FYI, Riga is now also on sale from MAN, so not transferred to LPL

I know RIX-LPL is on sale, my point was that there was speculation the MAN-RIX flight had ben moved to LPL, but it hasnt as both airports have flights to RIX this summer.

Sorry, when I posted the Riga service was not available for sale from Manchester from 27th March, but the Liverpool to Riga service was. I now see that Ryanair has loaded the summer schedule for Manchester to Riga.
Liverpool to Riga operates Monday, Wednesday & Friday Manchester to Riga operates Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday
