Didn't Ryanair used to serve Riga from Liverpool? Yes it was one of the many it switched to Manchester instead. As for Wizz starting new routes from Liverpool - I suppose we can only hope.

Maybe give Prague another shot, and Bulgaria as a summer destination could work.

How will the proposed take over of Whizzair affect us? Don't see BA/Iberia cutting us much slack--I suspect this may be poor news longterm.

I thought the rumour was that Air France / KLM were interested and Wizz had denied that they were in talks with anyone.

The Air France/KLM proposal would be to merge Wizz Air into Transavia to create a pan-European LCC to compete with Eastjet and Ryanair. But Wizz Air are denying any talks are taking place and are saying the airline is not open to offers. However, it could explain why the airline cancelled it's IPO on the London Stock Exchange recently.
It is now the trend for the legacy carriers to set up such operations. Lufthansa will use Eurowings for this aim and British Airways/Iberia will use Vueling.

Coupled with the Blue Air announcement, that's really positive news. We are steadily eroding the impact of Ryanair route transfers to MAN.
