I was told today that flybe have lost the NHS contract to easyjet. Can anybody confirm this? I hope I'm wrong as I beleve that was the only reason flybe was staying at Liverpool.

Stobart air will be operating the flybe Isle of Man route for a further 5 weeks. As a result of this at least one flight is overbooked. I know, because I volutarily accepted to depart from MAN instead of LPL and got a voucher for my trouble. But if this is true I won't be as smug if they cancel the route..... I was told today that flybe have lost the NHS contract to easyjet. Can anybody confirm this? I hope I'm wrong as I beleve that was the only reason flybe was staying at Liverpool.

A couple of cancellations today Anyone know why? I think it is due to the strong crosswind on the Isle of Man at the moment, and it is out of the ATR's limits, the Dublin-IOM flight also flown by an ATR has been cancelled.. Alex

Alex I suspect you're right. I'm on IOM-DUB tomorrow morning. Hoping the wind eases and changes direction!

I understand Stobart Air are starting Carlise to Dublin and Southend, they seem to be launching a number of new routes. Would be good if they offered a Dublin link from Liverpool ( under Aer Lingus banner). Be ironic if Carlisle to Southend went via Liverpool, we had a very similar link bt to Stansted years ago, I think the company was Lakeside Northwest.Flybe show no interest in LPL when you see all the new routes they launch elsewhere.

Maybe it's me, but I see lots of new routes happening around the UK, I just read a statistic Liverpool is UKs 8th biggest city with 440000 population, actually one ahead of Manchester 420000 www.ukcities.co.uk/populations/ however there seems to be nothing happening from LPL apart from expansions by overseas airlines Wizz and Blue Air. Does this not seem odd ? ! Easyjet, Ryanair and Flybe are doing nothing.

Surprised nobody has picked this up yet.. News Release 25th November 2014 Flybe to serve Belfast City Airport from LJLA A new service between Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) and George Best Belfast City Airport is to commence in the New Year, following an announcement today by Flybe that it will start a year round service to the city centre Airport, starting on 2nd February 2015. Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline will be operating three departures a day, Monday to Friday and one departure on Saturdays and Sundays, with fares from £24.99 one way including taxes and charges and seats on sale now at www.flybe.com. Managers at LJLA believe this new route could generate an additional 50,000 departing passengers per year. Belfast has a well-established Business and Financial Services sector and the new service is expected to be particularly popular with the region’s business passengers, who will now be able to fly direct from Liverpool to Belfast City Airport and be in the City’s business district just 10 minutes after leaving the airport. Mark Povall, Director of Air Service Development for Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, “Flybe have been operating from Liverpool for a number of years and we’re delighted that they are committed to expand their business from here. We know that demand for this service to Belfast City is strong and we will also continue to look at further opportunities for Flybe to serve the Liverpool City Region, at what is an exciting time for both the airline and ourselves.” Paul Simmons, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, added, ““We are committed to providing easy and affordable connectivity throughout the UK at competitive prices with maximum flexibility and choice. “Flybe has, over the last twelve months, undergone a significant overhaul of the business and this has resulted in a more cost-effective, efficient and flexible operation, enabling us to increase the number of routes we can offer to better serve the travelling needs of both our business and leisure customers.” For further information contact: Robin Tudor, Head of PR, Liverpool John Lennon Airport Tel: 0151 907 1636, Mb: 07710 328554, e-mail: rtudor@liverpoolairport.com Good news for a change from flybe..

Wow......fantastic news! That was a well used route prior to its loss. Great to be able to cement the relationship with Flybe too.
