It was interesting to read in the Quarterly Report of the decrease in passenger numbers by Ryanair, Easyjet, FlyBe and Wizzair but... Car parking numbers remained strong.

;D Nice one. Must be hard up (can't afford to get out) scoucers clogging up the long stay or even more likely the bus fares as Arriva are reducing the number of departures, yet again, come October. Not all bad news though, all GB Coaches X36's I've seen over the past month have had passengers on. The most I've observed is two and the rest had a 50% reduction.

Looks like the Airport has finally woken up and acknowledged they are losing passengers to other airports - previously they seemed to think it was just the general downturn in the economy. Daily Post from today - LIVERPOOL John Lennon Airport (JLA) could be losing market share to rivals in the region, it was conceded this week. At a time when JLAs two main operators, Easyjet and Ryanair, have cut back on routes, frequencies and the number of planes based at Liverpool, they have increased their presence at other airports such as Manchester and Leeds/Bradford. Easyjet, which used to have no planes at Manchester, now has seven based there. In an interview with The Liverpool Post, a JLA spokesman said: Easyjet and Ryanair have reduced services at Liverpool and they offer more services at Manchester. We used to have a monopoly in the no-frills market in the region but we knew it would end. We used to have a large catchment area, but Leeds/Bradford has both Ryanair and Easyjet now. We still have a large percentage coming in from Yorkshire and Greater Manchester. We have done well in pulling in passengers from significant distances, but now with low-cost flights from other regional airports, it is no surprise that some of that traffic has migrated. We still have good working relations with both Ryanair and Easyjet going forward and we will work with them to continue to put good business through this airport. We are still looking for new business, for example the charter market and a feed to a hub airport with onward world wide connections. Meanwhile some private pilots based at JLA are warning they may be forced to switch to alternative locations because of a 30% hike in aviation fuel prices charged. One pilot said: People will move away from Liverpool to Shropshire, Hawarden at Chester or Barton. The JLA spokesman said the airport was already taking steps to address the pilots concerns. Another '(not) well researched' article by the local press that revels in bad non-news stories exLPL.

I think its a good thing the airport management have at last woken up to the fact that other airports are taking their business, instead of burying their heads in the sand and blaming APD. The Post also seem to have taken delight in having received and been able to publish a letter from a Mossley Hill resident saying how bad he thinks the airport is, moaning about the fact the walk from car park to terminal isnt under cover and only being allowed 5 minutes to set down.

I've written to the Post re my post on 7th Sept at 1029pm, I won't put it here as it will take the thread off topic and much of it isnt relevant to passenger numbers. What I have pointed out though is that numbers at Liverpool arent down due to nobody wanting to fly with Ryanair, but instead because the routes arent even provided anymore.

That letter in the Post has so many odd remarks and such like in it that it sounds like he has an agenda.

Sorry Dave won't happen again--its just that no one in the press seems to be watching our back.unless its to get the knife in. Don' t want to rock the boat and lose this vital forum section. sorry again--will think more before I rant--and open another bottle.LOL
I do think that to boost figures we need another carrier--Jet2 or whatever.

Just passed through LPL using the Alicante service 150 pax ( evening departure ) outbound, 149 inbound (midday arrival). 95.8% load. While I'am on I was impressed with upgrade to the airport facilities both security and retail. My only gripe which has nothing to with the airport is the traffic lights at the Speke Hall Ave / Speke Blvd, getting off SHA is a real pain, nice passage through the airport, then stuck on SHA.

Excellent loads, easyjets plan to boost fares by supply and demand looks to be working a treat with the schools now back.

easyJets supply and demand will certainly work in 2013 with a further fall in passengers
