How can it plug the I.T. Market when easyJet are slashing seats from Liverpool to Alicante, Faro and Malaga next summer. There are approx 1,000 seats less seats on these routes for Summer 2013.
All the Thomas Cook deal will do is force up the price to these destinations.

Given that Liverpool was highlighted recently as a low yield base, I'm afraid that's what we need to see. Higher yield will precede growth, lower yield will require cost reduction ie airframe reduction.

when do you think the remainder of the LPL-ALC summer 2013 flights will be loaded ? at the moment its would appear to be one departure per day in april and may 2013 on the dates that i have checked

Not as slick anymore? Some of the posts above are drawing attention to the reductions that seem to be planned for next year, although we have not seen the full summer schedules yet. As I mentioned in my first post, I fly a lot from LPL with easyJet. I also fly GA there so a friend. I was on the Malaga - LPL flight today, landed 12.27. The aircraft was full. When we landed we taxied to the easyJet "backyard" and parked on the East side. We then had to wait for two buses. It was 12.45 before the buses moved off (the first waited until the second was full also which no one could understand), but only drove to the West side of the "backyard". The major comment from pax here was why it didn't take us round to the front apron to save a long walk. By the time we cleared Immigration Control is was 13.20. The point I am making, which was made by several pax nearby, was that the slickness seems to have gone. By the time I got to the multi storey is was almost a full hour & we were "hand luggage". I also noted that as I was going through the Customs doors the belt allocated for the Malaga flight was still waiting, after 50 mins. This is a constructive criticism, if we want to compete we have to keep the customer satisfied. PS The crew on the flight were great - no ice for the G&T but I can live with that on a morning flight!

Agree with Bobs point above, hope that was an exception rather than the norm but there have been occasions there when have waited for steps, or queued a while at immigration. My thinking being from Liverpool is still home quicker than if drive to Manchester, but for anyone who is equidistant to both then things like that come in to play.
On a good note, plenty of adverts in Allerton Road Thomas Cook today for holiday flights from Liverpool so this easyjet partnership with them is getting advertised. For too long local travel agents windows have been to predominated by Manchester flights. The more local people make use of these, hopefully more desintaitons/frequency in future whether it be easyjet or charter airlines.

In reply to lfc 84,
Easyjet's Alicante flight from Liverpool will remain at a Once daily frequency (a reduction of 8 flights a week) throughout Summer 2013, as will Malaga (3 Flights a day at its peak) and Faro.

Ah...! So, April 27 / 28 / 29 and May 4 / 5 / 6 is unlikely to see any additional flights on the LPL-ALC route ? Sorry, if i missed the news, I'm a bit shocked. I couldnt book when the flights were released and now they've gone up alot. I was expecting more to be released for the above dates. There are still additional Malaga Flights to be added on those dates - currently showing one per day. However we are planning to go to ALC.

Berlin is not on sale yet as the airport problem has to be sorted out but I believe this maybe operated by a Berlin based aircraft. Berlin is now loaded as being a daily evening flight to SXF (up to June 16th like all the network) with a LPL based aircraft.

A long shot, but has anyone heard (rumours even) what the LPL - Malaga flight departure times will be July - Sep 2013. Being pushed to book Monarch from Manchester because: a) the fares are available now & b) the departure times from both ends are "friendlier". (I always liked the 19.20 departure from LPL.)

Cant see them being much different from what has been published for June so far, ie 6am departure.

Recieved an e-mail from Ali Gayward (eze com man)regarding routes out of LPL and in the e-mail she states"the decision to reduce the size of our base in LPL is based purely on commercial reasons.LPL has for some years performed poorly, and indeed is our weakest base by far in the UK and indeed throughout our network. We are simply unable to command the same levels of returns in LPL as we enjoy elsewhere" She talks of MAN as being "extremely successful for us financially, given its strong and AFFLUENT catchment area and larger catchment area"
She then assures me that"we have no plans for any further reductions at LPL and are committed to maintaining a strong prescence in LPL she goes on to say,the challenge has been to have the right size and scope of network from LPL to meet demand, coupled with also meeting the demands of the MAN market, she ends by saying we will not rule out growth again in the future once returns are stronger,we are working very hard to ensure that this is the case in coming years Leave that with people and see what you all think
