RAF Sea King, forced landing in Snowdonia, 21st February

From George Jones information regarding a forced landing by one of the RAF Valley Sea Kings in Snowdonia on Thursday 21st February.

Pic in Daily Post shows it to be XZ596/-, and state that it was built 1978 and delivered to Valley 1996.......an old hand ......

The helicopter landed on a ridge above Rachub near Bethesda and was retrieved after fix on Friday.

Here is a link with some good pictures of an apparently unguarded and insecure helicopter. Not something you could do anywhere other than North Wales I would suggest.

The article does state that the 'copter was guarded by the Rock Apes.

LOL, bloody good disguise then, I remember being at RAF Catterick many years ago and the resident Regiment members got up to all sorts of disguises out of all those rocks in the picture I can not see one visible. Brilliant.
