calflierBlue Air no longer operate 738s. They were returned off lease a couple or so years back, when the old Blue Air had financial problems. There are none on order at the moment. The fleet is made up of 1 x 735, 1x 733 and 7x 734s. The "newest" 400 was delivered last month. Ok,maybe they will order new equipment soon, anyway at least the airport have attracted this carrier, with other airports no doubt being considered.

With a massive boost in numbers so far this year visiting Iceland(where I have just been)I think a possible carrier for next year maybe WOW,who are increasing their fleet next year, with Easyjet and Icelandair operating from Manchester, the north west is a gap in this airlines network, lets hope!

This is good news and I don't care how old the fleet is. All that matters is on time departures, service reliability, plenty of customers and low fares. (Not necessarily in that order.) Well done to those responsible.

This is great news and its up to all of us to help promote it. I booked a flight yesterday with them at an excellent return price, but the website is not as straightforward as easy or ryanair and the pricing structure may put some people off, so they will need 'educating' as to the difference in the pricing structure.
First, the credit/debit charge was over £30.00 per booking. The combined overall flight was still very cheap, but some may dither because of this, its a pity it wasn't added to the normal cost of the flight. (Two return flights including all charges & booking fee was £111). Four star hotels in Bucharest are also available for as little as £45 per room per night if this helps to encourage anyone to visit.
Secondly, its a bit confusing (to me anyway) over the online booking procedure. You can only book online for flights from certain airports, Liverpool not being one of them. (The return is okay). It suggests that there is a £10.00 charge if you don't book online and turn up at the airport. As the boxes to tick only allow the return flight, it appears that the only way around this is to pay an additional fee at Liverpool airport. However, on reading the small print, it states that as the U.K. are not covered by schlengen then there will NOT be a charge for flights to/from U.K. as no online boarding will be available.
On the plus side you can pre-book meals for your flight and the cost to choose seating is less than easyjet.
Hopefully this will be a great success and as long as people are aware of the above prior to booking then they wont be in for a nasty shock.

Sorry to confuse matters. My earlier post should have mentioned that you can not get on-line boarding details, you can however book flights.

The Blue Air 737-400s are between 22 and 24 years old.

It really is about time these so called cheap airlines employed IT people who could actually put a web site together that was simple to use and customer friendly. It can`t be that difficult surely. I have lost time the number of times I have had to telephone Ryanair to get help for one of my company directors who travels to Dublin frequently from Liverpool to try to sort out failings or glitches in online booking. Reading the upload about Blue Air online didn`t add any confidence about simplicity.

You can book, most of these airlines now on websites such as Ebookers or cheapoair.co.uk plus many others,I have seen them both cheaper and more expensive than the airlines own website,It was mentioned earlier that the Blue air website may be problematic,so it may be worth considering one of these sites as an alternative, just in case people dont realise this can be done.

Not correct. Here is a link to the current fleet list. www.planespotters.net/Airline/Blue-AirThe website is easier to use than Jet2s. Blue Air do not call themselves a cheap airline, those are your words. I do not have a problem with it. The airline's first language is Romanian not English and to compare it to an airline's site where English is the main language is unfair. If something is lost in translation, then so be it. I cannot understand why people start sniping at new airlines to LPL, before they have even commenced services. Please be aware that I have a personal connection to this airline. I won't let people run them down if it is unfounded..

Buspilot,I think he was having a go at Ryanair mainly, but I have just looked at 22/dec LPL/OTP on Cheapoair.co.uk.and Blueair are bookable,on that site through Hahnair,if any travel agents are reading this,as I said it may be more or less expensive than the airlines own website, but the debit/credit card fees are different of course IE none if debit card is used on Cheapoair .co uk for example, hope that helps people who maybe put off by using the airlines website.

The other points need addressing however calflier
It begs the question do the supporters of LPJL really wish to attract new airlines, when they attack on fleet age, website, easy of booking and website airline profile, when one arrives?
Some people need to wake up and smell the coffee!

Yes I agree with you on that one,we need to support all airlines that show show interest and start services,I hope to use Blue air next year,as I have said before I hope more airlines such as Blue air will be attracted to Liverpool, and on the subject of fleet age,as I stated earlier,Blueairs a/c would be probably no older than Jet2,s 733,s,and I have to agree that subject probably would not have been brought up if Jet2 were at LPL.

If we're going to go into the aircraft age thing, we might want to consider the age of some B747s and 767s of the national carrier, and who would refuse to fly with them?
