Fingers crossed about replacements! Shame about the RR Spitfire. Always flown the way a spit should be an was one of the stand out displays last year.

Important information!!! There will be no access to the beach from the coast road. This is due to the state of the beach. Beach parking is limited and will only be available from the north. Leave very early! I just messaged them on Facebook asking about access via coast road and thats what they have told me. Going to be a lot of angry people tomorrow turning up to drive on the beach and being directed to the hard standing car parks in the town and Victoria park!

Had a wander down to the beach earlier, and I can confirm the above. The beach looks similiar to the way it was on the Saturday last year.

A little confused. What I know as 'Birkdale Beach' accessed beside Pontins (?) Holiday Camp and used for pleasure flights in the 50s to 80s is somewhat south of the landing strip used for Air Show aircraft in the past few years. The Air Show strip is to the immediate south side of the Pier (as shown on the photo above) - there is no construction of the rolled sand runways, runway markers and display line marker boards until after the previous high tide.
It is my understanding that if the sand conditions are unsuitable ie rainwater waterlogged and too soft, then the 'on site' airfield will not be constructed, therefore the beach airfield is closed for that day.

Can confirm the beach and landing strip was open. Not a bad day at all! Great to see the two Lancs despite the awful weather and the Sea king was a hi light along with the pyros for the Mustang. Vulcan will appear tomorrow despite its cancellation. However very scary moment as the jet provest nearly lost it after pulling out far too late from a loop and heading directly for the crowd before pulling up right over the crowd to the right, right by me. He immediately cancelled his display and returned to Woodvale. He stated weather was the issue but geez that was scary having that straight at you at full pelt about 50feet! Off to woodvale tomorrow!

Good day at Woodvale today! I'll upload a log and pictures at the end of the week as my dissertation is in on Wednesday so I'll be very busy!
