Every month when I read my a/c mags I shake my head in despair about Britain and it's once great a/c industry.OK we ASSEMBLE some Typhoons and some Airbus wings but airliners ( BA with Brazilian stuff ?),trainers, light a/c, microlights even.Just look at who is building what.We ain't in there.Lawyer ,media, sociology careers anyone.

And let`s not forget the recent revelation by the Navy guy in charge of flying training that it would be a good idea to replace the Red Arrows aircraft which are nearing retirement age with second hand US F16`s.
Good advert for British Expertise and export possibilities, can he be charged with Treason and demoted to a rating.

Agreed re the dearth of uk manufactured aircraft. However the arrows with F16 would be good. Nostalgia time I remember seeing Phoenix 5 with Sea vixens. I think they were actually called Phoenix 5 plus one , can anyone confirm or have I dreamt it?

Not sure about that one but there was a display team called the Phoenix 5 who flew Royal Navy Buccaneers. However, on occasions during 1968 they did display with 'Simon's Sircus' a team that flew a fleet of six Royal Navy Vixens. Considering that David Cameron threatened not to place further defence contracts for warships in Scotland if they voted for independence because they would become foreign suppliers.

bulldog, how can seeing the Red Arrows in F16`s (second hand) be any good for British Trade,or anything else that would be good for Britain, other than to advertise the fact we are close to being un underfunded,under-defended and equipped third world country. The idea is totally idiotic.
