News today showed that 2 RAF Typhoons scrambled from RAF Coningsby and went supersonic to meet up with an RAF AVIA AN26 YL-RAA, c/s MTL1605 en route to Birmingham which was failing to respond to ATC.
The An-26 was escorted into Stanstead around 1700 hours. Numerous calls were made to Police after explosions where heard (sonic booms) RAF apologised LOL.
Turned out to be a misunderstanding with transfer between ATC sectors, crew were interviewed and then allowed to proceed to Birmingham
It does show in FR playback but not the RAF Typhoons.

Im very annoyed now, I was in BHX all day hoping to see this exact plane. The typhoons would have made it even better!

A clip from FR24 has just been played on News at 10 with a voice clip from RAF pilot warning the pilot of the AN he may be shot down if he refused to comply with instruction of UK Government. The RAF has apologised to people of Kent for supersonic boom I wonder what sort of an apology would have been offered if the AN had been shot down, not sure which would have been the louder. Why do the RAF have to apologise to anyone under the current terror threat level ?
