To all Members. To-day I am about to delete member Donaldson1. He is a regular poster of u-tube videos and nothing else. His videos contain advertisments and as this Forum has a no advertising policy (Yes there are adverts in the header of Proboards that are outside our control) I asked him to remove the adverts when posting. His answer was, I sorry but I'm not prepared to do that, Mainly because I put a lot of time and effort into producing content for my You tube channel and I want some form of reimbursement for that effort, If this contravenes your policy then I'd prefer it if you could remove all my posts and also my account from your forum. He actually gets paid for posting the u-tube videos when members like Viscount who spend hours compiling logs and reports and don't get a penny for his troubles. Members who spend hours on the mound and AVP in all weathers who do it for the love of the hobby. All other members who post info just for the love of it. Members can still post videos but make sure they are advert free. Thanks and Regards Beemer, (Administrator)

It`s about time too , this forum is great forum and should not be allowed to become a cash cow for a small minority.

Thank you for taking the action described. Although I enjoyed many of the videos, the advertising content has worried me for quite some time. The correct decision has been made. RT

Well done Beemer.
It was obvious that the content of this chaps posts were for personal gain and were extremely annoying when the airport was in it's recent closure and reopening process. That and the shananagans that came with it was what I in particular was interested in, not videos of past happenings. I am sure I was not alone.

Chaps
totally agree with what has been said and done. What I believe we all want and enjoy is news, events , happenings or similar. A posting of a video (on a purely personal basis) is not up there with a good still of something happening in our region.

Yes agree with this,I post trip reports on here for no personal gain, and I also dont like posts with only a link.and no explanation of what the story is about until the link is followed.I am not saying these type of posts are for personal gain, but it is also annoying!

Yes I am of the same mind with regards to links. If a member posts a link say why they posted and make some comment regarding the same. With regards to the two members who posted videos, one had about 145 posts of which 142 were videos and the other 45 videos and nothing else. They have been using the Forum as a platform just to make money.Regards Beemer. (Administrator)

Beemer........ Satisfy my curiosity: how do they money from this?? Planemike If you click the link,it counts on their youtube channel, and more people see the adverts,so they make money in some way from Youtube, and it keeps the advertisers happy, its a bit like referring you friend to an insurance company,or the such like, they wont thank you for it,its a scummy way to make money in my opinion!

Living in Orlando with my two grandsons, I have truly been educated in this sort of thing. They are hooked on something called Stampy Longhead plays Minecraft. Stampy is an English bloke who videos himself and his friends playing the Minecraft game. The viewer does nothing except watch. Everytime the video is played Stampy gets somthing from the advertisers. This is enough not to have a real job. Left to their own devices, our boys would watch this all day long, and their friends too. Mindful of the change in fashion, Stampy has now started the same idea with other games. Sorry for the drift, but this is all new to me..Never heard any of these names before. Thought it might interest.
...and then for a homework assignment. Grandad, can you name 10 things we have today which have been invented since you were five?
..and Grandma, what were your favourite Apps when you were a girl?

The sad thing about this was the Mauld's videos were first rate while Donaldson's were, not to the same standard. If Mauld had removed the ads there would have been no problems but then he wouldn't receive monies and that was the whole exercise. Regards Beemer (Administrator).

The whole video saga aside, not wanting to speak ill of a 'deleted' member but I do remember a very berating post made by said member towards 'Viscount' which I personally thought was very uncalled for at the time considering all the time and effort that Brian has put in to this forum and other related publications and forums for many years.
Good riddance as far as I'm concerned.
Regards, Garry
