Looking at the app tonight I settled on an area around TABA INTL AIRPORT in Egypt and followed a flight MS958 for no other reason than that was the only one showing in the area heading East 91 degrees. I crossed an area that looked like bomb crater and then I noticed loads of the same sort of marks. Zooming in they look not unlike individual radar screens and appear to have been placed in specific areas and well laid out.
Does anyone know what they are and if so is a method of hiding certain areas from veiwers of the app. I haven`t checked if they appear of Flight Radar yet but will, having done so yes they do appear in similar style pn FR ?

I presume that you were in some form of Google Earth mode, looking directly down on satellite images of the desert terrain? Exact circular patterns are irrigated plots, where the water is fed through massive wheeled booms rotating slowly around a central feed pivot point. I have seen these patterns from 34,000ft over Arizona/Nevada/California and the regularity of shape on the random nature formed landscape is striking - even when not crop growing green and left as fallow, they show as a different shade of brown to the surrounding countryside. On the ground the fields are so vast that you don't appreciate the curved edge of the growing crop from the road.

Thanks Viscount for information re the circular objects. I will have to check on the suggestion of being in Google Earth mode, as far as I am aware it is Planefinder paid for version as it downloaded to me.

Biggles this was taken from Google maps. I think, like Viscount that it is a form of irrigation that works similar to the rotating arm on filter beds in a sewerage farm. Regards Beemer. Discs 2 by tommoxxx, on Flickr
