For old time's sake I looked at the "piece of cake clip", and found myself going on to watch selections of the episodes from You Tube. (The whole series is there). The days in "France" were filmed at Charlton Park, not far from Kemble. This is where I kept my '172. For the 6 months of the movie making I had to vacate the hangar which was used as the studio workshops. The machine was kept covered on the airfield not far away. This was a small price to pay for a summer of flying by all those Spitfires, the Rapide, a couple of Me109's and other odds and sods. mostly more contemporary types, which flew in and out from time to time. We had a glorious time.

the CO of 610 Squadron JAS Storrar flew under a bridge at Chester in a Spitfire...... I think when they were changing to Meteors in early 50s
