Believe it or not I've only just discovered all this but it doesnt half bring back memories.
I remember Biggin 72 (soaked) and Farnborough 72 (soaked again)with overnight trips. I also remember Runcs Austin Cambridge although I was lucky enough not to be involved in that particular fiasco. Phil Ducketts beetle which we eventually twigged went about twice as fast if you only half filled the petrol tank instead of fully filling it!
I also remember a Greenham trip in John Downeys Dads car - cant remember what it was but it was big - and having to change a Dynamo (not an Alternator!) somewhere between heathrow and Greenham. I think wed gone the logical way to Greenham, via the Hatfield Open Day!
We'd better make no attempts of the many attempts to get a ton out of Clives Mini...

Mike
Welcome to forum and can't believe you have only just found us.
Was the Biggin 72 where nothing flew and we ended up putting down chipboard bits to walk on which became incredibly slippery and then turned to mush seconds later. Main interest was commentator giving running commentary of stuff being towed out of the mud!!

I reckon youre thinking of the first time a stall went about 76? Again another fiasco I missed! Seem to remember you all stayed in Ray Kittles place which acted as a giant drying room as you all got soaked for 3 days! At least the 72 Coach trip saw some flying!
Still finding my way around the many threads on here but nostalgia definately rules!

Hi Ron. The 1965 trip was "Mersey to Milan" with Alan Scolefield, Rod Simpson, Phil Butler, John Walker, Mc. Mcallum, John Francis, Brian Bond , Ron and myself John Wiseman. We flew to Calais in Carvair G_ARSD 19mins. Through France and Belgium - Melsbroek being particularly memorable 24 C-119g packets among lots of other aircraft. Germany with a base tour of Bittburg F-105 Spangdahlem F-105 , Hahn F-102 Lots of civil fields, military fields, airports and the Bavarian Travel exhibition. the Deutschesmuseum in Munich only had 8 aircraft - look at it today! Quickly through Austria to northern Italy then return throgh Switzerland. Emmen was the gem 30 + Vampire FB5 Pilatus P2 and P3 Venom Hunter Mirage Vampite T55 harvard and a BU 133. Stans a tour, my memory is that our guide said he could not show us the assembly line for the new Mirages but at the end of the tour walked us out passed them. what a a star!
Through France lots of airfields - Paris area Chalais Meudon an aladins cave of aircraft that eventualy moved to Le bourget. Crail 8 B.17 used for survey work ( we only got 6 identified and 7 HD34. All to soon out fortnight was up and we boared B.170 F-BLHH bound for Lydd.
I also have a memory of a campsite bar in Germany where a Dutchmanwas giving impressions of hitler loosing the war, great entertainment for all except the Germans.
