I have tried to open my saved page at NWAN/Home on both my laptop computer and phone this afternoon , but this procedure will not advance until I log-in as a forum member , which is messy and time consuming especially on a tiny phone screen. The saved home page opened normally this morning without requiring a log-in. As a result of the change , many visitors who have never registered will be unable to view any information on the forum , and everyone else has to waste time logging in. Is this intentional , or a temporary glitch ?
Update : This is still happening about two hours after I first noticed it.

From Admin:
Looks like this is an issue created by adding a new section to the index at the weekend.
Initially non-members could post, the settings were then amended to prevent this, now it appears that everyone has to join to view. I'm not at my PC at the moment, on an insecure laptop/public router, hopefully t'other Brian will be on shortly and sort it. Fiddling around in Admin's 'Control Settings' is a nightmare of unintended consequences, thought we had got away with it this time - but haven't!
Now that we are aware that there is an issue, it will be dealt with shortly.
When issues like this arise, as Admin have their PCs all set up for repeated access, we do not notice when things go wrong for those occasionally visiting - so do need to be told when new problems become evident.

Everything is now back to normal and guests don’t need to log in just to view the Forum but still need to be a member to post. Sorry about the trouble caused but as Viscount says” Fiddling around in Admin's 'Control Settings' is a nightmare of unintended consequences”. Regards Beemer (Administrator)

I don't know how this problem occurred as we have not interfered or touched any of the settings as of late. Apologies for any problems caused. Regards Beemer.

On most occasions I am automatically logged in but for whatever reason I have to log in at least once a week.

I constantly have to log in on NWAN.even though I leave a tick in the remember me square. I can go on and do logs etc come off for a matter of seconds and still have to log on again to do anything extra.Does anyone else have this problem . I have noticed it does not happen on other programs.

No problems with automatic log-in for me. However for the past week have struggled at times to open proboards, while other websites open with only a pause - feel this is a problem with internet connectivity strength (which is not great and does fail when the weather is poor), not log-in.
I would suggest it could be an issue with security software installed in your PC/lap-top, either that or something to do with your basic settings. I've no doubt that 'RadiostationX' will spot this resurrected thread and respond. As a matter of interest 'Optimium1878', a year on has your weekly need to log-in changed and if you now have no problems, any idea why?

I have noticed it does not happen on other programs. Strange as the proboards login looks for cookies to see if you have visited before, then from the cookie the site "remembers you" if you have ticked the option. Unless your chosen browser has a clear all/selected cookies option enabled or a third party "sweeper" type cache cleaner running. If there is then thats the issue. BTW By design Chrome browser has a limit of cookies in the buffer so to speak and it will auto clear the buffer a little of older app data when it needs to so that it can retain current browsing data. Sometimes google chrome and firefox will pop up a box " save the password for future visits to this site" or similar, if there is a pop up blocker running, this box may not appear and so your browser will not save the user/ password. blueaircraft79 For diagnostics only ,Please can you try another browser & log in to see if this happens to you again so that we can try to pin the issue down. Thanks

Looks like Firefox is having problems as I can’t login in on my pc. I’m a guest using it. It is working fine on safari on my iPad though. Edge browser is working fine as well.
