vctr, its very easy to block individuals if you don't wish to see their posts. You will find that ability on most sites.

I have to admit that I am unaware of such a facility. I've had a quick look through 'profile' settings and don't see any ability to block posts from a particular member from being viewed. I do have the complication that being 'Admin' means that I have many additional forum-wide settings, so may not be seeing every option that is available to members.
Anyone know if Proboards have such a facility to block on an individual basis? Also, if so, how to make it function?
Thanks.

Viscount, if you click on the name of the member making the post and then on the following page, click on the drop down box by the little wheel on the extreme right. Voila, "block member" appears! Let me know if you need further help. Most sites have a similar facility, it helps to screen out those posters who frequently annoy!

Thank you 'eye2eye5'. As Admin, when I follow your instructions, I do indeed get the option to Block Member, but also options to Warn Member, Disable Account, Ban Member and Delete - so I had always taken all the options available as being across the board 'Admin' actions, not the top one as being personal viewing one. Learn a little every day. As 'Admin' I do need to view all posts, no matter how repetitive the content or of personal interest or not - so won't be using the facility, but it is interesting that individual members can block other individuals.
To create 'thread drift' but along this same theme of Forum management, we have in the past 24 hours had another incidence of a 'troll' provocation post, posted by a 'Guest'. Now in theory, that is impossible as the Admin settings in place should not permit a non-member to post. Must be around the tenth time this year, and is rather annoying and upsetting/confusing to those reading the post before Admin catch and delete it. What we don't know, being PC users rather than experts, is how this is being done so that we could possibly work out a way of preventing non-member access to post. Any ideas?

Sorry Viscount, I can't help with admin. functions. You obviously have more options than we common members who only have the block member function.

I think 'eye2eye5 has taken my comments the wrong way around - what I wished to express that as 'Admin' I have no idea which functions are accessible to all, and which are purely available to admin. Not that I wanted to know how to use the Admin functions. As on my PC most of the 'functions' accessible in the way described by 'eye2eye5' are 'admin', I had discounted 'block' as a available to all feature therefore my ignorance displayed in an earlier post.
The good thing is everyone who follows this thread now has the knowledge to block others should they wish to.

Viscount this is how to stop guests posting change setting so that guests have to log in here it is in full
A guest is a visitor on your forum that is not currently logged into a member account. For example, this could be someone new to the forum checking it out or, an existing member that hasn't logged in yet. It could also be a search engine crawling the forum so that your forum can be listed in search results.
Depending on the permissions you've set, guests can read topics on your forum and even participate by posting. If you would like to prevent guests from posting on your forum, visit your Admin Panel and click the the "Categories & Boards" link. For each board that you want to restrict posting on, make sure that "Who can create threads" and "Who can reply to threads" for each board are set to "Members & Staff" in the board's permissions. If you would like to prevent guests from viewing topics on this board, set the "Who can access" option to "Members & Staff".
Another method to prevent guests from viewing the content of your forum is by setting the "Guests Must Login" option found in the "Forum Settings" area of your Admin Panel. With this option enabled, anyone that is not logged into a member account on the forum will be required to login or register before continuing into your forum.

I take it that this feature in the proboards admin console has been enabled now by admin users as I have tried to view forum as guest but "no workie" without signing in.

The thread is going off course regarding Guests. In the past we have had Guests posting on the Forum which is not allowed. Some try to cause harm to the Forum with for example, selling drugs. We had a Guest the other day who posted on the Flora and Fauna thread. Any one can view this Forum members or not but I have tried to stop non members from posting. I to-night blocked Guests from posting but it has stopped all non-members from viewing meaning you have to join up to view. I have had 14 persons applying for membership in the last half hour so I am lifting the block on Guests till I can find a better solution. Beemer Administrator.

Thanks for doing that Brian, a bit of a pain in the neck having to log in all the time.
