I am sure that Garstonboy and I could spend a whole evening and several beers reliving some of the horror stories we have had to deal with over the years. Well, I'm always up for a few beers! Some very good points there, nbn and they equate exactly with my own experiences. Norway is not a member of the EU and thus CAP 261 doesn't apply, but as you say, they are a full-service airline and a member of IATA and, I was surprised to discover, have been around for more than 80 years, making them one of the oldest airlines still in existence. I've never flown with them, but could well imagine that they would be quite efficient at re-routing via the routings you describe. As to the reason for the cancellation, only Wideroes can answer that. What I will say is that with new routes there are often teething problems. It may seem difficult to believe, but I once remember a case where, two weeks into the operation, it was discovered that no aircraft was available for the flight, because the head of engineering had been on two weeks' holiday, hadn't realised that the new operation had begun and taken the allocated aircraft into the hangar! The allocated spare aircraft, inevitably, was off base, so of course the flight had to be cancelled. Time will tell, but I reckon Wideroes will have done their sums and they'll take the bad days with the good.

I was also very concerned about the cancellation on Monday evening and have been in contact with Robin Tudor at LJLA about what happened. He replied, "....... the Bergen flight was cancelled due to a technical issue with the aircraft in Bergen, - unfortunate but just one of those things but sounds like the passengers were helped with accommodation and arrangements for alternative flights – though via MAN and BRU sadly."
So thankfully no particular concern. Here's hoping for normal service on Friday etc.......

Are we likely to see a promotional campaign around Merseyside/NW to advertise the new service ?

Tomorrow's Bergen flight is cancelled, presumably due to no PL games.

LPL website had it cancelled earlier.
The Wideroe and BGO websites plus FR24 are showing as cancelled.

Then sky tv puts Liverpool on a Monday night and they then can't watch the game they saw an opportunity to get flights but need to operate in accordance with the premier league and sky tv sport as for when they can support the filghts,so maybe charter flights are the way to go

This route is going to sink or swim almost exclusively on football supporters. More precisely, I believe it will sink or swim solely on Liverpool supporters. So, to me it only appears viable at this point in time when Liverpool are at home or playing in very adjacent cities. Sorry, I just don't think that Everton have the same ability to draw European supporters. Also, this flight only draws passengers from Bergen, yet in the past there have been several charters operated by Wideroe from/to Stavangar as well for Liverpool games. If only this flight connected from/to Stavangar in Bergen. I really hope that Wideroes have done their homework on the marketing of this route both in Norway and in the Liverpool area. Has anyone noticed any serious marketing done on Merseyside?

They may switch types depending on whether important football matches are being played. They also seem to have had a bit of a reliability problem with the E190.

The important thing is the route continues and grows whatever the aircraft type.
