From another forum it's been revealed that Boeing 747 436 G-BYGC is the first of four different aircraft to wear historical British Airways livery. The aircraft should be flying in BOAC livery in the middle of Feb, now how about the cabin service going back to the good old days.

Does that mean they will be looking for a historical flight attendant Samba. And the said Gentleman Mr Samba would I have no doubt, provide a refreshing change to the sorry state of a flying experience customers have with BA at present which is nothing short of a travesty. "To Fly To Serve"..a joke. The staff arent bothered any more. A nice paint job from the golden years isnt going to fix staff morale, they need some experience/mentors back in the cabin to promote much needed enthusiasm for the brand and show how things should be done. Nice idea Beemer Wonder if they will do a red square BEA a320neo ?

Unfortunately, if they pay the staff the minimum wage that sort of service is all you can expect, there will be no improvement until the low cost airlines disappear. Looking forward to seeing this jumbo. Lets hope they paint the remaining three in the colours of the other airlines that formed British Airways in 1974. These being BEA, Cambrian, and North East/BKS.

If it wasn't for the politics in Cabin Services i'd still be serving my chicken or Beef to the far flung corners of the world and getting away from our lovely winter weather. Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

What a sad writeup for an aircraft that changed the way we travel. If it were not for the high capacity 747 we would probably still be paying sky-high fares with what are now low capacity aircraft i.e. the size of a 707 or 737-800. Old she may be but as for the interior, its good to see that it compares to modern day aircraft such as the A330 and B787. That is, if the person writing the article is referring to those aircraft. Pity the flights are fully booked, apart from the executive club priced seats, as I've never flown on a 747 but would have taken this opportunity to do so. Lets hope they can put a few more flights on and let the enthusiasts know before the price rockets beyond our means.

British Airways has not confirmed yet what plans for the BA 100 day, and has said that it had not put the retro 747's on flights from Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle to London Heathrow. All those who have booked on the flights that were mentioned can have their money back.

Perhaps they could do some round trip pleasure flights instead? £100 would be apt and not stupid money for flying on this iconic aircraft. Better to fill it with enthusiasts than to mix it with normal passengers who haven't got a clue what type they're flying on. Come on BA pull something out of the bag! Maybe they could even use aviation bio-fuel to appease the green brigade!

G-BYGC is scheduled to do a flypast with the Red Arrows at RIAT, Fairford. Saturday only according to their information. Be good to see.
