Hi, We went back to the air museum in Kiev for a 2nd visit and the museum was hosting a car show I've never been to a car show where I had virtually no idea what I was looking at not just models but manufacturers as well! Feel free to guess what they are but, I've no idea of the answers I know we will have Moskovitch, Tatra, Zil and obviously Lada but beyond that I'm stumped I'll start with my absolute favourite 1. A few volgas in there Ian including your favourite. The black AA88881X is a Volga 23 I think (KGB standard issue), as is the orange Aeroflot airline marshalls estate car. One of the black limos is a GAZ volga, looks like an M24, and the other larger one (similar to a caddy eldorado)is a zil. 32-53 is a volga as well (the one that looks like a 58 chevvy belair or 57 Vauxall Cresta)

The red Aeroflot Volga of course has the legend 'Follow Me' in Russian the back window - for added emphasis, presumably! The yellow and white minibus is a Gaz. (I wish I had a pound for every one of those I've been in-usually with curtains on the windows!). The Volga 23 was standard government issue and even doubled as a taxi in its' day. The big black Zils were for the exclusive use of the party leaders and there were lanes in the major cities, known as 'Zil lanes' which were for the exclusive use of these vehicles. Some versions had 8-litre engines! 32-53 is a Chaika or seagull. A rather odd name for a car, I always thought! I am reminded of an old Soviet joke, told to me many years ago: A guy goes into the Lada showroom, presents his envelope full of precious roubles saved over many years onto the counter and places his order. The salesman agrees the colour and date of delivery. "It will be ready to collect three years from now, the 9th November." "Morning or afternoon?" asks the buyer. "Afternoon", says the salesman, but why do you ask?" "Thank God for that, I've got the plumber coming that morning," replies the buyer.

Yes @garstonboy The minibus does look like a Gaz, or perhaps given the location a close relative, an RAF (Rigas Autobusu Fabrika). GAZ (Volga) not to be confused with ZAZ who also made minibuses and vans. Zaz vans are popular in central russia where it gets stupid cold, zaz fitted a "cold climate pack", steel skid plates to the lower engine so the owner could set a small fire underneath the van and the heat would be absorbed into the plates and de-ice the siezed solid engine and return the oil to something like a liquid plus get the cab warm as most had half of the engine in the floor of the cab...crazy ! Ladas had these skid/heat plates as well. The Final photo (Fiat 500 lookalike) is a zaz as is the blue 087-67KE Hilman Imp wannabe. Love these vehicles, especially that AA-8888 black volga KGB special..something a bit different for the commute to work.
I was hoping to see a Kamaz T4 truck or two, they are very interesting indeed. There is one racing a VW Polo WRC on a certain video hosting site beginning with You
