Since it was a nice day, I decided to take a trip to Turweston to see what was happening. I haven't been there for many years and hardly recognised it. Very smart terminal building and landscaping, complete with pond! Free access to just about everywhere and lists of aircraft posted outside, where the hangars weren't open to the public. I took photos of the stuff I found most interesting, but no log I'm afraid. The Piper Cub was one of the earlier arrivals. The Harvard had apparently come in much earlier and left earlier than any of the other visitors. Arguably the star of the show. It certainly got plenty of attention! Isaacs Fury. I discovered that this lives quite close to me at Tower Farm airfield. aka G-BEER apparently. Some of the later arrivals had to be parked on the apron because they were running out of space on the grass! SR 22 on approach By mid-afternoon the wind swung round to a crosswind, which caused the Aeronca Champion to make an 'interesting' approach. The Cherokee was one of the later arrivals. The Grob 109 with those long thin wings was another one to find the crosswind a bit challenging. A Cherokee lines up for take-off. An unusual pose and an unusual name - Groppo Trail apparently! Couldn't recognise the type, but the clue is in the reg! The Super Cub was another early leaver. There was a thread on another forum recently about 'indelicate' registrations. For my money, this one falls into that category, but maybe it's just me! And last but not least, a rare sighting of lesser-spotted southern meerkats. Thoughtfully, Turweston has provided a mound for them, though they are rarely seen, except in good weather and usually with a notably thicker coat than their northern counterparts.
