Thursday's show did feature the An-124 at EMA. Unfortunately Zoe's third innings was something of a disappointment. Her attempted explanation of basic physics with paper planes looked ridiculous. The piece about the Victor restoration at Duxford was excellent. This benefited from the fact that it was done without a presenter.

Well, I've just watched the final episode in series one. And I have to say I enjoyed it. It wasn't perfect, there were a few mistakes but I have to thank the BBC in providing me with three hours of entertainment in a subject I am interested in. Like most of us on here there was much that I already knew but there was also lots of information on somethings that I didn't. I'm now Looking forward to the next series, lets hope we don't have to wait too long.

Not had the pleasure of watching the other episodes but tonight I have learned amongst other things about Hungarian SU27s at Fairford, the Belgian F-16 that was clearly very cleverly disguised as a Dutch F-15, the new P-8 stealth 737, RAF Markham, the Spitfire-esque Westland Lysander, The F-18 that shapeshifted into an SU27 and a Typhoon and Peter Snow's apparent departure from our dimension. This is a hobby with so many different areas of interest, many knowledgeable people who are willing to share their stories, endless history etc, and we get this rubbish. The Victor VT was good, but everything else was cringeworthy and poorly done. If anything, Planespotting live with Andi Peters should be used not as entertainment or an educational resource, but more as proof that Alan Partridge is in fact real and that his show ideas are getting accepted by the Beeb.

I just watched a recording of last evenings programme concentrating on military. To be honest I think this brilliant idea turned out to be an opportunity lost. There could have been so much more in the way of real spotting. Yes there was lots of interesting stuff such as looking inside the Nimrod, restoring the Victor, but all this kind of content could be seen in other programme formats.
I enjoyed the videos of the low level flying in Wales, not just for the content but because it showed another little known branch of aircraft spotting. I enjoyed too, many of the photos sent in, but really, there just was not enough content of live aircraft movements leaving too much time for cringe worthy comment from the two main presenters. In the few moments when we did see a live aircraft landing, a couple of real professionals could have made so much more of the content in terms of describing aspects of it all, to those on the fringe of our hobby or just tuning in to get interested.
The lady volunteer who follows the BBMF taking photos was excellent in her job and must surely have one of the most coveted entry passes of all time.
If the BBC repeat it, perhaps they could look at NWAN pages and ask a couple of our regulars to host the programme.

Really don't think this programme did us enthusiasts any favours portraying our interests. It desperately needed more creditable (and less zany) presenters. Perhaps, Dan Snow rather than batty old John Snow and Dr Alice Roberts instead of the crazy science lady? Dallas Campbell (very knowledgeable guy, dad flew 747s) would have been a good choice too. I think they could have concentrated more on "spotting" at the Airport itself rather than it being a back drop for inane comments from the hosts. They could have explained about photographing and camera equipment, scanning and radio equipment and flight tracking apps rather than trying (badly imo) how lift works which is another topic completely. Good effort BBC4 but must try much harder next term.
