I dont know if anyone in NWAN has experimented with sdr radio at home for airband scanning. There are some very good models out there, one of which is the RSP1A from SDR Play. This radio is a bargain for the cash (around £95), 8.33 channels are not an issue. This radio covers all of the civil and miltary airbands. I did a write up with some video samples of the radio in use. www.merseyradar.co.uk/airband-radio/sdrplay-rsp1a-review/BTW at the other end of the scale of expense , AOR are launching a new dedicated airband radio next year. The aor7400 4 frequencies on screen, 4 channels at once..but I havent got 4 ears yet ! Thankfully it has recording to SDR card. It will no doubt follow the AOR trait of being far too expensive for what it is. Bells and whistles all over the place. A nightmare to program. Will more than likely cost over a grand. The AOR Doesnt cover some parts of mil airband allocation 137mhz to 144mhz, The £95 SDR Play does though..

This piece of kit is Amazing for under £100.
Sensitivity/Selectivity very good.
Loft mounted aerial.
Listening to transmissions my scanners dont hear....
