All the recent airline failures makes you think MOL May be correct when he predicted that due consolidation and mergers Europe will end up with I think he said only 4 or 5 airlines . So just looking back to this year these are the losses. So September not a good month at all. Surprising to me is no Italian failures due to dire straights of there economy. Doing this on mobile so if table comes out badly perhaps a mod could align columns (Done by Mod, all part of the service!) Launch Airline. Failure. Country
1978. Germania. 2/19. Germany 1987. BMI Regional 2/19. U.K 2012. WOW Air. 3/19. Iceland 1946. Aigle Azur. 9/19. France 2000. Thomas Cook. 9/19. U.K 1995. XL Airways. 9/19. France 1961. Adria. 9/19. Slovenia
Not sure how this compares with other recent years, sad to see them go.

If you go back over the years September is never a good time for airlines. A bad summer season will leave them short of cash to survive the winter.

Slovinia's Adria Airlines which has ceased operations, had been around since 1961. Also known as Inex Adria in the days of Yugoslavia. Then a DC9 operator, they had one of their aircraft leased to British Midland (G-BMWD/YU-AJF) for several years. Those who took a Yugotours holiday in the 60's probably flew with them.
