Excellent photos, Phil. Slightly off-track question to anyone out there. Is Fiddler's Ferry still burning coal?

Apparently so Garstonboy - set to close in March next year according to the BBC website
Added - from The Guardian Website
"SSE said Fiddler’s Ferry near Warrington, Cheshire, the energy company’s last remaining coal-fired power station, would close in March 2020, reducing the UK’s coal-fired energy fleet to five plants."

In 1967 I bought a house in Penketh which backed onto the railway line which feeds Fiddler's Ferry and we were told at the time that the power station would only be there for 25 years at the most! We shall see what happens next year!

Excellent photos, Phil. Slightly off-track question to anyone out there. Is Fiddler's Ferry still burning coal? I thought it had transferred to burning biomass awhile back which is why it was allowed an extension of its operation over scheduled close?

I thought it had transferred to burning biomass awhile back which is why it was allowed an extension of its operation over scheduled close? I thought so too, which was what prompted my question, but I was told a while ago when I lived in the area (again!), that it would stay open, but the fuel would change from coal to biomass or some other less-polluting substance.
