The piece from the Echo on line appears to be from this month and talks about a possible second major airline announcement as well. The airport say they confident that an announcement will be made soon. Great news let's hope it happens and please if it does no negative comments by the usual suspects.

Great news. I can only see it being Frankfurt. Going all the way back Lpl maintained a British Eagle Route there, although some seasons where via Manchester. In today’s market Lpl only has EasyJet to Berlin, so Frankfurt linking in with their world rotes makes sense. There of course be other reasons behind this. 1. As mentioned by me and others, slots at Man are running out. 2. There may be some reasoning behind it when it comes to any Brexit agreement? 3. Looking at the number of German corporate business jets coming in daily, there may be a growing business case for such a service. Maybe someone more local can comment. 4. Liverpool’s growing tourist market Look forward to seeing what happens.

Possible Lufthansa service would capture all transfer business from Liverpool as no one else offers it since KLM left. Plus no direct competition which KLM had.

Sorry but what a bizarre interview by the boss of the airport. Will look really foolish if it doesn’t come off. We have been down this track before. Shoulda, woulda, coulda

I find it odd that they state if it wansnt for brexit then we would be talking about a route to uae.or qatar fro march 2020!! Man already have i think 3 x daily to abu dhabi, dubai and doha. Why would they start lpl?!

I certainly feel that there has to be a Lufthansa service coming or John Irving is going to be made to look a complete idiot - and can the airport, or even the man himself, afford that loss of face?
Good luck but I won't truely believe it until I see the service on sale.

I may be off the mark here but didn’t we have a Qatari biz jet visit earlier in the year in the airline colours? I just thought it was overspill from Manchester or unlikely to be airline-linked.

The Qatar Executive Gulfstream 650 positioned in from Heathrow and departed to India, I think, about midnight. Possibly golf related ?

The three negative posters here - bustcapl, Scottie Dog, evertongary - I challenge you to name a charity of your choice and commit to donate £20 to that charity if one of the named services starts within 2 years. I will match your commitment if no service starts.

Ah possibly, only those in the know know I guess! I think it’s nice that we are hearing some concrete names mentioned now rather than just “we hope for a hub link in the future.” Hopefully they pull it off.
