Last year they left quite early on the Friday morning. You need to park near the Altcar Camp entrance. Then take the footpath Northbound that runs parallel with the railway line. The Chinooks are difficult to see and are a long walk away!! Hope this helps Trevor and I think it's fair to suggest that the Merlin's are only marginally easier to locate, even behind winter levels of foliage !! MP

Just noted on ADSB-Exchange that the 3 Chinooks have departed to the South in the last half hour at 2000 ft heading towards Whitchurch. Suspect they're on their way home. (16:15 hrs) Regards Roy. P.S..thanks to the two spotters I met on the footpath yesterday for pointing me in the right direction.

Noted on ADSB at 1615 hrs are the following Chinooks routing south: ZK556 call-sign VTX487. This was read off at Altcar today ZK560 call-sign SHF510 ZK561 call-sign SHF505
Can anyone confirm if ZK554 has been present. I know that this has been logged earlier this week. Have there been 4 different Chinooks? Thanks

Hi,
I got a photo of ZK556 yesterday, which I why I raised the query over 554. I haven't seen a photo of 554.
