M-ORIS also now holding at mouth of Dee ......fog?....strange to see them circling directly above each other ...1000ft seperation...must make it difficult to see each other ,...or does this make it easier for ATC as they are both in same position just different heights?

At 12.55 today the Flybe is doing a go around on 27. The RVR has just been given out as 225 / 225 / 225 all the way down Runway 27.

When I were nowt bur a nipper there was something called the Blind Landing Experimental Unit at RAE Thurleigh. As a result of the fine work done there BEA was able to land Tridents at Heathrow in the fog in the late 60s. If anyone had told me then that fog would be an issue for the flying public 50 years later I would have thought them insane.

...and I would have raised an eyebrow at the suggestion that LHR would have fewer active runways 50 years on.
