(Copy of my posting to the KeyPub Forum)
Dear all, I am delighted to report that the Crowne Plaza Hotel Management have now given us permission to bring G-BEJD to the old Speke Aerodrome for static display.
The aircraft is to be positioned alongside the Jetstream 41 and right outside the Hotel's Restaurant - this is _the_ prime position.
I'd personally like to thank XM172 and Anon for kick-starting this project, I know both have put a lot of effort into it and without them, JD would be pots and pans or bean tins by now.
I'm amazed at the incredible interest shown in this aircraft and blown away by the pledges made to ensure that 'JD can be saved. It is crucial that those pledges are realised - or JD is doomed once again.
A web page has been prepared through which your pledges can be turned into usable funds to make it all happen - this will go live later this afternoon and I'll post info here.
Thanks to all.
Roy.

Those who wished to contribute to the rescue and preservation of G-BEJD can now do so via: www.spekeaero.org
Every penny counts - nothing comes cheap these days and this is a big job.
Thank You !

Just a quick update... Engines and Props are scheduled to arrive at Speke on Tuesday and the dismantling team are headed up to Blackpool tomorrow (Saturday) to start prepping JD for the big move. 99% of pledges made via the Key Publishing and NWAN forums have been honoured so financially, this project is now well underway. Saving her is one thing, getting her back together and painted up will take a lot more time, effort, materials and cash. If you'd like to help financially - see www.spekeaero.org or if you think you can help in some other way, please send me an email to: roy@spekeaero.org Thanks to those that have helped so far - I never though we'd get 'JD back to Speke.

A few photos of G-BEJD "Sisyphus" taken on the fire dump at Blackpool a couple of weeks ago. Regards Beemer.

This will be a great addition to the collection of aircraft on the old apron. Hopefully work on the Brit. will also continue. I admire those that take such projects on, as it is a huge task from all perspectives - time, energy and financial. When I was a kid, I dreamt of getting hold of an old Dan Air Ambassador and having her placed in our back garden in Mossley Hill. She would have fitted well and saved my father a lot of gardening and weeding. That was my rationale anyway! What is the history of BEJD? What colours will be displayed after the restoration? All we need now (IMHO) is a viscount and a Dak to round off the collection.
David in Canada.

Danairamb,
There is another thread on this section, but now slipped back to index side 2, title: 'G-BEJD HS.748 at Speke?'. A few entries down there is a full history of the aircraft and its relevance to preservation at Liverpool.

Thanks Viscount. A great history, and shares an Argentinian past with the Brit. I hope they restore her in Dan Air colours, but then I am biased.

I have it on exceptionally good authority that, loading and weather permitting, that HS.748 G-BEJD, now in several sections, will make its final journey by road from Blackpool to the Crown Plaza apron, Liverpool around late morning/early afternoon on Thursday October 20th. No idea of the proposed route for the convoy, however arrival time, if all goes well, is likely beween 1 and 2pm. Please don't shoot the messenger though!
It has taken a great deal of effort to get this far - and the hard part, getting the aircraft reassembled and restored to display standard, has yet to start!

The convoy departing Blackpool Airport 1345, ETA Crowne plaza around 1515 this afternoon (Thursday 20th).
Arrived 1520 hours on three trucks. Unloading beside the Prince commenced.
The three main sections placed on the apron in the correct sequence, with unloading all complete by 1720 hours.
It has taken well over a year to get this far, with some members of sahg estimating a 3 year restoration programme until back on her own legs, repainted and restored to viewable status. Faster if more funds become available. There is certainly a task ahead!

I will have to take another trip down to photograph it in its new home. I do look forward to its restoration, hoping it finds its way into the Dan Air "Red Livery
