Lovely slides, Beemer. They bring back some memories, especially the one of the Brit with the engines running - I can just hear those purring Proteus turboprops!
I posted quite a lot of my old snaps on the old forum, so I must have another go sometime,
Thanks, Ken

Ken, please do.
PS As Beemer states, they are actually Airbus's photos, scanned and posted by Beemer.

The Gloster Meteor F.8 WH291 from RAF Strubby, and the Westland WS-55 Whirlwind HAR.10 XP302/W-M from RAF Tern Hill. Both were at Liverpool for the 1962 'At Home' Air Display. The Whirlwinds had just been transferred from front-line service, so although it wore CFS Helicopter Wing codes, it was not in the silver & day-glo training scheme. The Piaggio P.166, G-APVE, illustrates another thread on this section relating to the Knowsley Estate airstrip. More on the Il-14 visits can be found on www.nwan.co.uk, and select 'special projects', then 'Soviet built'. Britannia 309 G-ANCH was ferried from Wymeswold to Liverpool on 14.2.68 in full Transglobal colours and titles at the end of a period of lease. It arrived for overhaul with British Eagle maintenance and repaint on behalf of owners Ghana Airlines . After overhaul, repaint and a brief period of storage it departed Liverpool for Luton on 25.9.68 in full Ghana colours having been sold to Monarch Airlines. This is the version that comes through MSAE 'Flypast' reports. An alternative version to be found in TAHS 'Turbo-Prop Aircraft Production Lists' and used by David Hedges in 'The Eagle Years 1948-1068' also published by TAHS. After the conclusion of lease to Transglobal, leased by British Eagle International Airways Ltd in 2.68, but never entered service and was returned to Ghana Airways in 3.68. Sold to Monarch Airlines 25.9.68. Subsequently to IAS Cargo for spares. Broken up at Biggin Hill 8.73. Easy access to CAA records was simply not possible in 1968. Today, a click of a few keys, and I find that BUA, then Transglobe were listed as 'charterers' (the owner being Ghana Airways), with the charter passing from Transglobe 13.2.68 to British Eagle and ownership passing to Monarch 23.9.68 - these being 'paperwork' dates, not delivery flights. The full version is probably an amalgamation of all 3 accounts!

The first 2 shots of the Il-14's are brilliant. The 1st one is very atmospheric and the 2nd one is so clear.
Well done Kenny Airbus (with a little help from Beemer)
