Some of my old snaps are in other threads, such as Starways, the Constellations, etc. and quite a few were on the old forum, and some have never been posted, mainly because of the poor quality, but I've decided to give them a go anyway! I'm starting with something a little different - some "Echo" newspaper pictures: The 1956 air show, with Yugoslav stuntman Dragoljub Alecsik hanging by his foot from a Tiger Moth. Visible on the apron are a BEA Pionair, Airwork Viking, Starways Dakota, and an Avro Anson Attachments:

This Mosquito TT Mk.35 (TA634) was purchased from the Air Ministry by the Corporation with a view for displaying as a Gate Guardian. It was said to have been used in the film "633 Squadron", after which it was stored at Speke until 1971, then given to Hawker Siddeley at Hatfield, thence to the Mosquito Aircraft Museum at Salisbury Hall, birthplace of the Mosquito

This was the day the new runway 10/28 was opened, and Swift was the first airliner to use it, after the Duke of Edinburgh opened it and took off in a Queen's Flight Andover. The three new parking bays, or "fingers", can also be seen nearing completion

Thanks mtlnorth, I often used to see the Airporter Bus - very stylish and classy. On a similar theme, here's the car park, seen from the upper terraces in 1964, with a train steaming past in the distance The new main entrance in 1964 Cambrian Viscount G-AMOG also seen from the upper terraces in 1964 Now here's a couple of snaps of EI-ANV on 5 July 1966. The first Boeing 707 to visit Speke, and the largest visitor up to that time. She was on a charter to the States The next day, 6 July, we had EI-AMW. She flew direct to JFK with a full load - thanks to the new runway This was an amazing time! on 12 July we had F-BHBI, L-1049G Super Constellation of Air France, on a footie charter. She was the first Super Connie to visit Speke I tried to make a "composite" view, with the following result! The next three were all taken on 15 July 1966 EI-AKL, V.808 Viscount, Aer Lingus Eagle Viscounts; V.755 G-AOCC "City of Belfast" and V.739A 'TDR "City of Glasgow" Eagle Viscount V.739 'TDU "City of Liverpool"

And now for the worst photos of all. I had my doubts about posting them, but what a day it was! Unfortunately it rained all day on 14th Dec 1966; the day Ajax fans arrived en masse from Amsterdam, in an impressive array of footie charters. It was dull, murky, grey and wet all day, and I was surprised that these pics came out at all. On this one day we had representatives of all the major Douglas propliner types; DC-3, DC-4, DC-6 and DC-7, plus the first visit of a DC-8 jetliner. In fact all the main Douglas airliner types except the new DC-9. Unique or what! PH-SAO, Douglas DC-7C, Schreiner Airways PH-TRC, Douglas DC-6B, Transavia G-ASEN, Douglas C-54A Skymaster, Invicta Airways and in the gloom PH-DAC, Douglas DC-3 of Schreiner Airways, plus PH-MAA, DC-3 of Martinair, seen from Banks Road And finally, a very poor view(s) of PH-DCF, Douglas DC-8 Srs.30 of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. The first visit of a DC-8, captured during atrocious weather with the last of my reel of film. All in all, 14th Dec 1966 was a wonderful day, despite the weather Here's a roundup of the charter aircraft from Schipol - all on the ground at the same time: G-ANBF, Britannia 102 of Britannia Airways PH-CGD, Convair 640 of Martinair PH-DAC, Douglas DC-3 of Martinair PH-MAA, Douglas DC-3 of Martinair G-ASEN, Douglas C-54A of Invicta Airways PH-TRC, Douglas DC-6B of Transavia PH-DSC, Douglas DC-7C of Martinair PH-DSO, Douglas DC-7C of Martinair PH-SAE, Douglas DC-7C of Schreiner Airways PH-SAO, Douglas DC-7C of Schreiner Airways PH-DCF, Douglas DC-8 Srs.30 of KLM PH-SAD, F.27 Friendship of Schreiner Airways In addition to these charters, PH-CGD also visited on 12th, along with PH-LLE, L-188C Electra of KLM (1st visit of type) on 13th
