Manchester are still 23% under from their 2019 traffic. The statement they don’t have any space is just not true, they have that many spare stands it’s crazy. Not quite right nwlost. Manchester is currently about 10% down on pre-covid levels and with a strong summer ahead expect to be about 4% down on 2019. Liverpool on the other hand will still be 22% down on pre-covid levels at the end of 2023. So, Jet2 will be a welcome shot in the arm. Liverpool airport's own Covid jab!

MAN is also down apron capacity because of the construction of the next pier on T2 and even when that is done most of the stand opposite the freight centre are going when the taxiway is duelled.
I am also bemused by vctr’s continued suggestion that the move by Jet 2 is aimed at EasyJet Holidays’ Liverpool operation; as though it will have zero impact on their Manchester operation or those of Tui or Jet 2 itself.

Fighting Easyjet holidays is one aspect. I didn’t state it was the ‘only’ aspect. Of course Manchester will have some leakage from the new Jet2 Liverpool base, it’s obvious really. But once again, I was answering to the factual inaccuracies by 2 posters that were stating the Jet2 base was either due to issues at Manchester or lack of space (which funny enough didn’t come under the same level of scrutiny, imagine that).
But as viscount posted above, he wanted an end to the debate, so I’ll end it there.

It will be interesting to confirm Jet2 themselves are moving to LPL to take a market share away from Easyjet holidays.

And by coincidence, easyJet base their only holidays livery aircraft, G-EZOA here only a few days after the Jet2 announcement, it’s like they’ve now got competition and need to advertise.

Of the 25 destinations offered by easyJet, only 11 will see competition from Jet2. I think easyJet are established enough at Liverpool to hold their own. easyJet Holidays are a force in their own right in addition to which TUI take a lot of seats too.
easyJet flight only fares are also a lot more competitive too, than Jet2.
I overheard a conversation by two women in Currys (Speke) last week. One says "We can book Jet2 now" and the other said "No, I am sticking with easyJet." Just an anecdote!

WARNING - speculation again. It appears that the facts are out there, but need collating to find the actual detail - and indeed it appears that "frlpl91" hasn't even bothered to read the post above his with initial detail provided at all!
Keep it factual, please. I don't approve of posts that disect the statements of others quote by quote (as it is the most frequent route to getting a ban), however the alternative was to simply delete it, but then others would never know why Admin found fault with it.

Saw that plane yesterday. A few passengers have been asking about jet2 and what places they fly. And yes EasyJet have their own brand of holidays. But it is very exciting that jet2 are coming in with something slightly different, and a whole new cluster of aircraft coming here.

So Winter 24 has been announced with 8 destinations.
Tenerife - x5 Lanzerote - x3 Gran Canaria - x2 Fuerteventura - x2 Funchal - x1 Alicante - x3 Paphos - x1 Antalya - x2
They seem to be making a good start here.
Hopefully by Summer 25 we start to see a full network akin to the other bases in the UK, with one more based aircraft, we could then hopefully see something along these lines with the extra aircraft:
First wave: Malaga - x3 Reus - x1 Dubrovnik - x1 Split - x1 Naples - x1
Second wave: Kefalonia - x1 Skiathos - x1 Santorini - x1 Mykonos - x1 Chania - x1 Larnaca - x1 Izmir - x1

Second time today "frlp91". Please don't post unless you have something clear to ask or state.
Here you ask a question (which has been asked before and answered with certainty before on this thread), then answer it:
"I hope they are recruiting their own ground staff"
"I thought jet2 have all their own staff 200"
I simply just don't how BOH (which to me is ICAO for Bournemouth Airport) get involved in knowing it is going to Swissport.
