I previously tried to visit Bacau twice but Wizz Air cancelled (Due to Covid restrictions) as did Blue Air (went bust). So, I thought third time lucky and booked on the Dan Air Inaugural flight to Bacau which departed yesterday.
There was no fanfare at the airport, check-in did not mention Dan Air on the screens, just DN416 Bacau. None of the flight announcements mentioned Dan Air and the crew did not mention that it was the first service from Liverpool.
There were 60 passengers outbound on the flight (48 Adults and 12 Children). The aircraft needs some TLC, wobbly tables, ripped seat pockets, no emergency cards and no sick bags.
The flight crew did not make any announcements and the cabin crew preffered to be behind a closed curtain talking amongst themselves at the front. They served a complimentary chocolate sponge cake and a glass of water.
They also came round with a paid for drinks and snack trolley. However, there was no brochure to order from but the cabin crew showed passengers a single laminated piece of paper to order from (same with the duty free offering). The other strange thing is that they only accepted cash payments. No cards could be used. That practice makes me a bit suspicious. Flight was quick and landed early.
Just my observations.

Au contraire, there was fanfare at the airport as the arrival was treated to the customary water salute from two airport fire tenders. See airport Twitter for details.

Yes, you are right. But, nothing at check- in or for the passengers at the gate as in the case of Aer Lingus, Lufthansa and Play launching services from Liverpool.

I guess a load of 60 isn’t too shabby for a route only launched 6 weeks ago by a little known airline. Let’s hope it can improve by word of mouth amongst the Romanian community.

Noticed that when you look at the flight information when searching for flights it includes details not only of the aircraft type but also the registration (eg YR-DSE, YR-JUL).
