My boundaries for the 'North West' are eclectic and non-standard. Basically North and Mid Wales to the west, Cumbria in the north, Pennines in the east with Shropshire and Staffordshire in the south.

3rd Friday - Sunday 5th. Llangollen Balloon Fiesta cancelled, Llangollen. Dates from www.hotairballoonevents.co.uk This has been an annual event since 1996, but their website announced in March that due to unpredictability of the weather, the event would no longer run. However under new management, the event will now run as originally scheduled, with ascents 6am & 6pm (weather permitting) and Saturday evening night glow and fire-works.

In '09 the only airfield based Air Show in the NW (and an excellent one) was the private Airbus event at Hawarden in early September. Is it to become an annual event?
Events with aviation interest held in 2009, but unlikely in 2010 include: Wirral Show, Fly Navy 100 flypast. Llangollen Balloon Festival, Jetstream Club Air Fair (but could well return in 2011)and the Wings over Walney Display.
Against which there is one new event posted so far, at Shugborough, Staffs (counted though more West Midlands than North West).
