Hi folks I need your help with one small detail. Can anyone remember the month-back in 1986, when a Trislander aircraft crash landed near Hale Village? The plane is pictured about 300/400 meters way from a small housing estate in Hale Village, where it crash landed to aviod, said housing. I know the year is 1986, but not the month. I think it was the winter of said year,, but that would mean either February'ish or October'ish? Any help appreciated! TIA. William

The answer (inevitably) is hidden elsewhere on the forum. Date was actually Monday 9th February 1987. Currently on page 3 of this 'Nostalgia' section, is a thread entitled 'Telair, Aviation West, Melbrenair & Walker' - it is the post refering to Aviation West that contains information on the circumstances of the Trislander landing short of 27. It would appear that only AAIB accident reports after 1992 are available on the web. www.aaib.gov.uk is the web site. However there is a brief synopsis on www.aviation-safety.net and search for 1987 then 9.2.87 for G-OCME. Not bad, an answer in 15 minutes! G-OCME awaiting passengers at Liverpool Airport 18th May 1986.

Hi Viscount, many thanks for pointing me in the right direction and correcting the year too! And yes not bad, infact very good, to answer with a result in 15 minutes! Many thanks. William Edit.. Yup,, details in one vicounts own forum entries.. " OnMonday 9th February 1987. Trislander G-OCME departed Liverpool on the morning mail run AVW007 to the Isle of Man. Unfortunately Ronaldsway was below minima due to bad weather. After holding for a while waiting for the weather to clear, AVW007 diverted back to Liverpool Airport. On approach to 27 G-OCME suffered a loss of power and force landed on farm land near to the sewerage plant, half a mile NE of Hale village. Damage was extensive, although there was no fire, the pilot excaping with slight injuries. The wreckage was roaded into the Airport on 10th "
