It would appear, somewhat amazingly that the arrival of Cherokee 180D G-AWTL was likely the first time that this aircraft has been to Speke/Liverpool Airport/LJLA!
Built in 1968 it was first registered 12.11.68 to, and imported by CSE Aviation Ltd. Subsequently to Rimmer Aviation at Fairoaks and then Elstree until sold 10.70 to a private owner. A succession of London area owners through the years until 09.12 when it moved to Nottingham based owner until sale to Ravenair at Liverpool 24.01.19, following delivery to Liverpool 10 days earlier. It most certainly never visited while with dealers CSE Aviation or Rimmer Aviation into the early 1970s and certainly did not visit in the '80s decade either. Added later. Did visit Tues 9th May 1972, f&t Biggin Hill.
Not too many 50 year old Cherokees still flying in what is basically still the Piper factory scheme of the late '60s, or indeed with the same registration throughout.
The same day as G-AWTL was registered with the CAA, CSE Aviation also imported a Cherokee 140 G-AWTM. This aircraft became very familiar to us at Liverpool over many years as G-AWTM, then G-KEAN and later G-TEWS. First arriving 18th August 1977 with Keenair and as G-TEWS leaving 17th August 2005 for Nottingham following sale. G-AWTM lost part of it's Piper factory scheme while with Keenair when the tail was painted mid-blue with a gold KAS logo. After it became G-TEWS (May 1988) a new scheme was applied, replacing the factory fuselage cheat and KAS tail. From G-INFO would appear to be still airworthy and now based at the Beverley airfield, Yorkshire.
Cherokee 180D G-KIMZ which was acquired by Ravenair during January is also a 1968 built machine, originally imported by CSE Aviation as G-AWDP, first registered 21.02.68. It was sold 8.68 to London area owners, until 9.75 with owners in Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Dereham until 4.14 and return to the SE with owners in Bognor Regis and Herne Bay until sale and delivery to Liverpool 1.19. It became G-KIMZ in July 1976 while with a the Bury St Edmunds owner. However unlike G-AWTL, this aircraft has certainly been seen at Liverpool before, while as G-AWDP it called on 7th December 1968 Newtownards to Elstree and night stopped, and again a year later on 21st December 1969 Belfast International to Luton and night stopped. While on 16th July 1971 visited from and to Elstree. It may have been here since, but I don't have most of the '70s on Excel yet. The modern, smart current scheme belies it's 51 years of age.
The 1984 built PA-28RT-201T Cherokee Arrow IV G-IDTO which was delivered to Liverpool in February, seems to have spent most it's life as EC-DTQ. Initially registered in the UK as G-IDTO 01.04.16 to Aeronautix and based at Leystad, Holland. Cancelled as 'sold in Holland' 3rd December 2018, it was restored to the new, current British owner in January 2019 without being allocated a Dutch registration.

If already cut into just a nose, I would suggest any thoughts of a rebuild have already long been abandoned. As it is the nose section that survives, very likely M-YSIM(ulator) is a future identity.

Oh yes, Moris spelled backwards. Are they going to have the company helicopter(s) based there too instead of at Blackpool? Looks an impressive building from the pictures.

Brian
I first logged G-AWTL at Liverpool on 25 July 1975. It was probably a Saturday as I had left the area by then and was living in Lincolnshire.
