The restoration of Hooton Park hangar site is to be included on a television series 'Heritage Heroes' running this week, BBC2 6.30 till 7.00pm. Hooton is maybe on the Thursday 9th programme, or possibly beyond. As some will be aware, on this aerodrome site, with great aviation heritage, aircraft restoration groups have never managed to become long-lasting tenants. Nor indeed have the historic hangars been 'saved' in any way since I was first there at an Open Day in 1992! There is a long (now on 3 pages) and at times highly detailed thread on forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=114711with the case stated forcefully as to the cause of the long standing issues. The thread does not only cover the ills at Hooton Park and paints a somewhat depressing, unhappy picture. As there is so much detail on the Key forum, I see no point in NWAN joining the debate. This post is for information, not to start discussion. Be interesting to though to compare the programme's statements with those views posted on Key Press's forum. Incidentally, a number of the postees there are are also NWAN Forum members.

Thanks Brian for the heads up re this programme.Think people are in for a shock when they see the collapsed hangar (if they show it)but looks like major investment in the middle one. Some of the comments on the flypast link make very interesting reading and you just wish that everyone could have worked together to sort Hooton Park out.Always seemed to be a them and us scenario down there..the number of groups that have left or been asked to leave beggars belief!
610 Squadron Association is now safely out of it over the other side.... outside the Meteor Hangar
