Attached are a couple of pictures of this weekends "Ticket to ride" steam special into Liverpool Lime Street featuring GWR Castle class No.5043 "Earl of Edgecombe". It is believed this is the first time any GWR 4-6-0 has ever been into Limestreet (Someone did mention a King had been as far as Speke Junction in the early 60s), and certainly a first for a Castle. No.5043 can be seen just West of the old Ditton station at Halebank. It is then seen at Whiston being dragged backwards by a class 47 to Earlstown so the whole train could be turned. Nice pics. I saw Clun Castle at Allerton Depot open day in 1967, so maybe that's the nearest one had got before.... Cheers, Dave
