I know how some of you are dead keen on double-decker buses so I thought this one may interest you. It was seen at Aston Down and will become the Cotwold Gliding Club "new" mobile control centre. It may be of interest as I think it bears a Liverpool registration and was once owned by Arriva and will replace the old Cardiff one they have now, Bristol VR, CTX 397V,no photo sadly. Regards Beemer.

Nice pic Beemer, and one of the ex Cross River Express buses based at Laird Street in Birkenhead. some of the batch still going on the Wirral and some in Liverpool too. A nice Volvo Olympian with Northern Counties bodywork.
Will have to keep an eye out next time I am passing that way

Thanks MTL for the info, I prefered them to the newer boxier deckers on the cross river. Have travelled on them a few times, nice ride and one of the most stylish of the newish deckers I think.
And as for the ex Cardiff VR in Carmedics pic, very nice too, a rarer VR series 3 as it's an Alexander bodied example, I remember them well when visiting family in Cardiff long ago.

Nice shot Brian.
She's a Northern Counties (expensive but superb, built to last) bodied Volvo Olympian and one of my favourites. She was new to Merseybus in 1995 when the company was owned by it's employees and as such was built to an over spec, with tinted double glazed windows, and high backed velour seats. I was privileged enough to view the whole batch lined up in rows at Edge Lane works whilst awaiting their final delivery touches before being shipped out to Laird Street for operation on the Cross River services.
She was based on the Wirral most of her working life before being stationed at Speke following the arrival of the 'newer boxier' vehicles that Copperbob refers to. Whilst at Speke she was designated to the 82 route but moved about when operational requirements dictated. I drover her a few times and despite her age was a superb vehicle to drive. Unfortunately, she reached the tender age of 16 years and inline with company policy had to go.
Nice to know she will be about for a few more years yet. Obviously, Carmedic's right about you ruining his shots but I'm not too sure what he's on about with regard to the bus ;D. I think the VR enhances his photo - still, each to their own. Lets hope that rare (nice looking, cheap) version of the VR ends up in the hands of preservationists and not little bits like many of it's predecessors.
Thanks for thinking of us bus nuts.

Well good morning bus nuts on here. I heard from a friend that some of you are, as well as being into aircraft, you are into buses as well. Thats nice to know, because I too have an interest in buses, especially the old corporations and companys before deregulation. Do any of you remember the old Coventry Corporation Transport ? Perhaps you lived in the Coventry area sometime before 1974. If you do, have a look at my forum at : www.cwk205.com I dont usually put the link around, because a lot of sites dont like it, I hope they dont mind on here. You can only see SOME of the main page as a guest, but it is a forum which is "Cruising" along steady. The main theme obviously being Coventry Transport, but we have had threads about Ribble, Standerwick and one or two other companys from the North of England. Sorry Admin if I should not put the link in this post. I am not here to "push" my forum, I am a genuine Aircraft enthusiast, it is just that I am a bus enthusiast as well. Thanks, Bill
