Nha Trang, which is a coastal resort,a few hundred miles north of Saigon/Ho Chi Mihn City, has probably the longest and one of the few over water cable cars in the world,a major engineering project was needed to build the cable car to Hon tre island, also known as Vin pearl island resort. It is 3 miles off the mainland and uses seven towers,to enable the cable cars to bridge the small harbour and port and also allow ships to pass underneath,it gives amazing panoramic views of the whole area, which itself is very stunning, hope you enjoy the pictures.
The cable station on the mainland is a couple of miles south of Nha Trang centre, and rapidly ascends over the small port,
Looking towards Hon Tre(Vin Pearl island)
Looking back to the mainland from the cable car gondola, and the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
Approaching Hon Tre island,on which most of the island belongs to the Vin Pearl resort, the cost of the cable car return journey includes enterence to the Vin Pearl resort and its many restauarants, and attractions.
The Vinpearl cable car station.
The view from Hon Tre(Vin Pearl)
Vietnam Navy ships at anchor at Hon Tre.
Looking back to Vin Pearl from the cable car station on the main land.
Even at the height of the Tet holiday (new year) in january,Nha Trang,s beach was empty, despite at temperature in the thirties
Nha Trang is a major resort in Vietnam, and has unkindly been referred to as,their answer to Benidorm,in truth it is much more up market with many 5 star hotels, however fishing remains a major industry,as can be seen by the fishing fleet in the northern harbour,
Despite all the five star hotels and holiday makers from other Asian countries, this was the scene,a couple of blocks, back from the beach at the Dam market in the old town of Nha Trang.
Hope you enjoyed this report, the next one will be from Thailand and a Thai railways loco repair depot at Thonburi near Bangkok,as time permits.
once again thank you for looking.
