Another fascinating selection Beemer.
Particularly like the Ayres S2R, think was originally radial engined before being converted to the Garrett T-331.
Thanks again for sharing,

Thanks GC. As a matter of interest do they still do aerial crop spraying any where? Regards Beemer.

Don't believe anyone still crop dusts with the Ayres anymore.
Certainly Air Tractors, Ag Trucks and Fletcher FU-24s are in widespread use in the US, NZ and AUS along with rotary wing platforms.
Cheers,
GC

as an old Speke spotter from the late 60's to mid 80's (marriage and kids and 13 years in the RAF stopped me then) I recognise some of the "old" faces in the pic of the MAS members. The guy sitting on the left of the pic I believe is "Phil" who lived near to me in Broadgreen, the other faces/names escape me! I'm an exiled Scouser now, and recently got back into the hobby (3 years) and making up for lost time (20 years of non spotting) Met up with an old Speke guy who we always called "St H" at Manchester last year or so and have recognised a few "older guys" on my trips about. Pop to JLA occasionally now and Manchester a fair bit, but with Brum being my local, plus many trips in UK and abroad done and planned. Its good to see a well run site like NWAN and I hope to become a regular contributor.

Wow! that group picture brings back memories I can certainly name some of the party Ian Baptist, Paul Ellison, Ian Cotterill, Graeme Thompson, Stuart & Phil Surnames escape me. Was this the trip by Genair Bandeirante? I remember a group of us were on the scheduled service to Amsterdam and ten others were on the charter flight. Fantastic weekend it took in Lelystad, Rotterdam, Hilversum and many other places the groups stayed in two seperate hotels. I was with Steve Rowlands, Graeme Hodgson, Paul Daley, Andrew Williams not in the attached picture. I would have to dig out my old logs to confirm trip details as haven't spotted for many years although Liverpool Airport holds many precious memories and I still nip down there on nostalgia trips. They say you never lose that interest once involved quite true. Thanks for posting Les McStraw

I agree with Les, good to see old pics of faces I used to see regular! Used to knock about with a few lads (all be late 40's/early 50's now, namely Keith Lawrenson (Halewood lad, last seen in 84 in Prescot area) Dave Fairclough (Broadgreen) Phil wotshisname!, a Lad always known as The Cucumber as he always wore green! Cliff (no last name again) and more lads. Love to know what happened to them all, especially Kick ass Keith! I always have a look when at Manchester or Liverpool to see if I can see some old faces. Also, as a side issue! I remember the old security guys at the old Speke, who we all had nicknames for. LCG (long chin grizzler) and BFB (Big fat b$%stard) were two I recall! Oh happy memories!! Bob
