Wow!. Great photos and a great reminder of our travels in Japan a few years ago. One of our daughters is married to someone who at the time was a serving seaman in the US navy. They lived there for a while so we visited. Mrs T and I traveled extensively in Japan, independently, and for the most part found it fairly simple, but it was far more difficult out in the sticks when relying on local buses which were at times few and far between. I found the bullet trains superb in every sense except that they lacked space for large suitcases. Everywhere we found friendly and helpful people. We had many interesting and sometimes strange experiences. We too visited Hiroshima, traveled on the trams etc. One of the striking things about the museum at Hiroshima is that nowhere could we see mention of the reasons for the dropping of the bombs or events in China, Hawaii, Singapore or the Pacific region. It was all a huge blank page in their history. This is nothing short of scandalous when you have have first hand knowledge of those who suffered. (Yes, in my family too). This kind of censored history does nothing for those who follow on and the society they will create in the future.
