Excelent news from Wizzair, certainly they are going in the right direction at the moment, lets not forget, that only a couple of years ago Manchester made Wizz an offer to move services there, but Wizz remained loyal to Liverpool, and I hope the airport get behind them and increase publicity, this may of course mean the current Ryanair service, although to a different Warsaw airport, may be moved down the road, such is Ryanair thinking at Liverpool at the moment,I hope I am proved incorrect on that one!

I am coming round to the conclusion that FR are more of a hindrance to the airports aim to grow routes and pax. Yes I agree, they are !,if only the airport can get another operator(big operation)or enough smaller carriers(ie the expansion with Blue air and Wizz)I would hope they(Ryanair)would then be shown the red card by the airport, we can hope!

It's a big hole to fill, guys, if they did go. As an aside, I note a number of my friends are abroad according to their Facebook postings. All are from Merseyside and all evidence Manchester departures. The lack of a well publicised IT product is still a glaring omission for me. I did receive another e mail from the airport yesterday, highlighting the November Turkey holidays. I'm delighted to see the publicity but a little worried that maybe it isn't filling.

An increase from two to three flights a week made possible by a fifth aircraft joining the Warsaw base from 29/03/15.

A big hole for sure, but its getting smaller all the time, hope the airport can prepare a business in cooperation with an operator that can really make a difference, otherwise it will be static at best and continued decline at worse!

That is good news. Haven't they already tried Riga before? I think ryanair were competing on the route at the time though...

Great news over the past couple of days from Wizz, not in a long time have we had so many positive announcements so close together! I was hoping they'd announce a new route and when I saw Riga on the drop-down menu on the Wizz website I thought something was about to happen. Let's hope they keep it coming and they continue to grow at Liverpool!

No, they have never operated Riga from Liverpool. Wizz air started a Vilnius service and then Ryanair transferred the Kaunus service to Vilnius to compete directly with Wizz Air forcing Wizz Air off the route.
In response to LPL, I also have begun to wonder whether it is time for Ryanair to go! I was also wondering how much of their total operation is through MAG airports (Bournemouth, East Midlands, London Stansted and Manchester).

What would be even better is if Ryanair were to recognise the economic benefits to them of continuing to operate from an uncongested efficiently laid out airport like Liverpool with strong support from its local public alongside easyJet and Wizz rather than moving their routes and Merseyside passengers to Manchester.

Well they where all there this morning so when the new Riga route was added I would have thought they should have noticed and deleted them if they are not coming back.
