The early morning flights are generally full and flybe's traffic has been increasing for a year now.

With the exception of 24th & 31st December the early morning BE601/602 has been cancelled and will not operate regularly until 2nd January.
The last flight of the day, BE607/608, has also been cancelled from 23rd December to 1st January. These are planned seasonal cancellations and probably reflects that the airline will not be carrying any IoM Hospital patients during this time.

If there is a concern that Flybe would chop LPL-IOM, and I believe they are closing their IOM base, Liverpool Airport should be having discussion now to secure that the route remains a high frequency service, and that is not lost to Manchester. I don't think Easyjet would offer such a service, and a more frequent jet operation is probably too much anyway. So who to approach ? Eastern maybe, Aer Arran, Citywing (Manx2). I don't see many options for such a route these days.

Fantastic news, it's about time we had some light at the end of the tunnel, hopefully they will start bringing the e170 or e190's if there using other airport based aircraft.

We were delayed last night due to the servisair tug breaking down whilst attached to the plane. they had to call the engineer who was "40 minutes" away. LF was very low - guess about 45%. Service was running late anyway prior to the tug issue. Made my claim for their 6060 guarantee today :-)

As said, the closure of a base does not imply the closure of a route. I am sure it puts the route at risk, from a FLYBE point of view, but that does not mean the end of it. If I had a DC-3 and if Britain pulls out of the EU, and then out of EASA, and if I had money to throw away, I would paint the DC-3 in sort of maroon stripes and call my airline Best Ever Airlines (BEA), and we would ply back and forth across the Irish Sea. Here Here!

Is that an extreme case of delayed reaction?

More, I think, of the idea being too attractive to leave on a sleeping section of near a year old thread.
As the idea has been awakened from slumbers, it is perhaps a great opportunity to say how good it is for the Airport and Manx residents that Flybe found a way to maintain the Isle of Man to Liverpool connection this summer, after a period of uncertainty due restructuring their bases. The winter 2014/15 timetable runs at the same frequency as that of the summer, which again must be good news.

The IOM-LPL route will by operated by different aircraft until the 26th of October judging by the current situation. Whether this aircraft will be Danish Air Transport's ATR-72, OY-RUG all the way through, or if they'll change it, I don't know.
