i find it a touch sad and a sign of the times that the airport feels the flights above are newsworthy?!

Are these related to next week's Grand National?

It's all about awareness. If times are tough then it is essential to keep your business - in this case the airport - in the public eye. Don't knock the airports' every effort to keep itself in the news no matter how small that news item may be. You never know who reads it. BE POSITIVE.

At least it's positive news, not the c**p from the Echo again!

In terms of Jetxtra, perhaps people should be more prepared to give the guy credit for showing some resilience and trying again (hopefully learning from past mistakes). Having operated without issue from Humberside last year the company presumably has passed the required due diligence to satisfy the 'authorities' and as such people should refrain from trying to undermine something potentially positive before it is even confirmed. I fully agree there, he is ATOL registered and 2013 passed off without incident. In 2014-15 they will operate their first winter programme so the company is moving forward and if flights are offered from Liverpool should be embraced not have mud slung at him from 9 years ago. Yes I think this sort of operation would certainly help Liverpool, Thomson, Thomas Cook and the like are not here, a smaller operation that could capture some Liverpool IT passengers I would say would be most welcome.

The last one I can see from the monthly logs was Air France A318 F-GUGD, a diversion from Birmingham on 21 Sept 2012. Kev

The Thomas Cook Scandinavia A320 visiting over the weekend of the 27th April could indeed be with passengers to watch the title decider.

First Choice / Thomson have announced 29 new routes from regional airports from next year, they are quoted as saying it is a part of their strategy to boost regional departures but they seem to have ignored Liverpool, even Humberside have a new route from them.
Not sure why we do not seem to be getting anywhere with introducing new charter airlines

We have no established bases here, the cost to set up one (with Manchester down the road) is probably more than they can make back in sales

Not sure why we do not seem to be getting anywhere with introducing new charter airlines Some time ago, I became involved in this in a professional capacity when I was doing some work for a handling agent. For obvious reasons, I don't want to go into detail, nor do I want to appear mysterious, but suffice it to say that Thomson were not happy about some of the facilities at LPL. When you consider that Thomson continues to run a base operation out of DSA, an airport which is almost dead on its feet, and also from Humberside, which is about the same distance from DSA as MAN is from LPL, it perhaps gives some idea of just how strongly they feel.
