It is disappointing but suspect it will take time to bed in. I also suspect that in a terminal designed to handle 6 million pax a year throughput will be low for many weeks making social distancing easy. How many were on your Faro flight Silvercity? I'd say half full. Don't get me wrong there were people on the flight wearing masks, but it's not acceptable for some to think they don't have to.

Thanks for your report. It is disappointing. It makes me wonder if I will be flying to Vienna and back home from Budapest in September. (From Nantes.) This virus and its risks have not gone away. Here in France I think we have been generally more observant of the rules. Perhaps its because the Gendarmerie have wide powers to issue fines. In The Vendéé we have been very lightly touched by all this. As of last week 39 had died of Covid 19 in our department. About the size and rurality of say Shropshire. A bit off subject but a tale from Yesterday. We were in Galleries Lafayette. in La Roche sur Yon. (Big Chain store like Debenhams.) There was a guardian at the entrance which was controlled to allow one person at a time. Masks and dispensing of gel were obligatory for every person entering. Soon after we entered a person tried to come in with no mask. The guard stopped him. Soon after that another person tried the same and would not be told. Eventually an argument erupted and the guard threatened to call the Gendarmerie. The man left.
On the other hand, we went for a coffee at one of our favourite places. The waiter who was wearing a mask, greeted some customers by shaking their hands. We were astonished, and soon left, probably never to return.

Travelled last Friday to Faro on Ryanair. I have to say im normally more than happy with travel experience through LPL but not this day. I was surprised to see other people walking around the terminal without masks, I saw this in the check in hall and in departure lounge. When I was in departures I saw someone working for the airport and asked why some people had no masks on, I said I thought it was obligatory . He said it was and would contact the duty manager. I suggested a public announcement to remind passengers. I did not hear one. At the gate I expected a tempreture check, this did not happen, I asked gate staff who shook their head, and said they werent doing any. I flew with Ryanair who say masks required to be worn during the flight. This did not happen as a number of passengers removed them. The crew did nothing to rectify this i.e instructing passengers to keep masks on. I felt stressed by the whole experience, I have sent ' tweets ' to the airport and Ryanair being social media is everything these days. Heard nothing back from either. This is not how it should be, perhapes someone from airports reads this and implements improvements fast so passengers feel safe travelling . Silvercity, you need to contact Public Health England and voice your concern over what you have seen. I think that it's time to start naming and shaming these people who are hampering any efforts being made to try and stop the spread of this awful disease .

I note the Airport have increased the drop off fee whilst reducing the allowed time. Was £3 for 20 mins. Now £4 for 10 mins. (If my maths is correct that's an increase of 266%!)

The Airport should be greatful to all passengers at present for their custom, not fleecing the reduced numbers using the airport.
When will they learn that "less for more" is not a good business strategy and simply does not work.
Disgraceful.

Really? Do we have to go round this stupid, pointless argument about drop off and pick up fees again, just so people who can’t be bothered with a five minute walk can have a moan for the umpteenth time? There are so many bigger issues to concern yourself with.
I suspect the airport is grateful for any kind of revenue income it can get its hands on. Can you even begin to imagine the size of the hole in their budget for this year?
I also suspect that they will have to generate more income from passengers to avoid having to increase costs for the airline operators who will be trying to secure yet more reductions in their own overheads with the threat to close a base if the airport says no.

I agree with Andy h, needs must.
Perhaps they could use the bus which would be £4.60 each, which is 15% more than the airport charge!

I noted today the airport has put a message on Twitter stating masks are mandatory. So maybe my point was noted and there will be some action to enforce it.

Masks are compulsory on buses and trains but that's not being enforced. Many bus drivers don't wear them but most are behind a screen, I admit.

If you are due to fly from Liverpool soon, don't forget to bring a face covering as this should be worn at all times when passing through the terminal and it's compulsory onboard all aircraft.
This is what Liverpool Airport are advertising now.

They have been doing that since the start of July.
Dont think by the sounds of it they have been practising what they preach, so maybe skating on thin ice.

This business about masks is relatively simple. If the law is clear and unambiguous "masks will be worn", then it must be enforced. If its not clear and unambiguous the powers that be, must make it so, or take the responsibility. Writing from France, the laws from the outset were clear and unambiguous. Mask were worn or fines were imposed. In the early days travel was limited to 1Km and then 100Km. Outside the limits. Fines imposed. Need to travel outside the limit? Written justification required. I know of friends who like us live in the countryside. A group of about 30 Parisiennes came down one weekend to their country house, near to our friends. The gendarmerie turned up, guided by the noise of the party, gave them all a 135€ fine and escorted them back to Paris, on the spot, with more trouble to come at the Paris end. When things relaxed a bit, there is of course the odd idiot who thinks he is invincible, or cares not about his fellow man, so from next week, again, Its "masques obligatoire" in all indoor premises. Apparently it takes a week to frame the law and to publish it, and to decide who pays the fine. The Shopkeeper or the individual.

From today, Wednesday 15th July, the wearing of a mask when out of doors anywhere is being enforced as a local law in Andalucia, so includes Malaga and the Costa del Sol. Quite what the 'tariff' of punishments is, is currently unclear; however it has been made clear that the rule will be firmly enforced. The position of customers in outside restaurants is not totally clear. In rural areas while dog walking, I have not been wearing a mask now for around 6 weeks - but then a busy day is passing 2 other walkers in an hour and a half and social distancing on the open campo not an issue. However, go in to the local villages or town then masking wearing is still usual, but (was) not universal - the main offenders being teenagers and young adults in their twenties. In supermarkets and shopping centres the wearing of face protection has been applied and enforced generally since reopening, except for street bars and cafes.
Last Friday at an arts and crafts group I go to, the 6 of us socially 2m distanced, working on separate tables with masks on. Packed away, walked around an awning and sat down shoulder to shoulder and facing each other on a table for a drink, snack and natter without masks. Two different rules just metres apart, no wonder the mask wearing rule was increasing being ignored by some.
Inland, quite a number of Belgian, Dutch and German villa owners have arrived during the past two weeks, some by road, some by air and hire car. I've had not reason (or desire) to go down to the coastal strip, so have no idea of how the first Brits to fly out to the Costa del Sol are faring.
I thought we had a Covid-19 thread going, just noticed that this is on the Airport Terminal: Developments thread.

Does anyone know why Liverpool arrivals / departures is show almost duplicate flights with unusual flight numbers a few minutes from what looks like the normal flight numbers ?
