My money would be on Bournemouth, Cardiff or Southampton. Maybe Humberside as a wild card! My money is also on SOU with the runway extension, there’s a big gap in their portfolio south of London and with no LGW slots, it seems logical. But hopefully it’s us, as unlikely as it seems.

Both Southampton and Bournemouth are very small terminals, also I think Southampton may have some restrictions about night flights with a alot of residential around it, but not 100 percent sure. They are in Bristol, so would they do Cardiff, maybe but Wizz didn't do well there. Not sure fingers crossed it's Liverpools time, passengers would certainly get a better terminal experience than Manchester.

I don't think you can blame Cardiff over the Wizz Air debacle. Wizz UK did exactly the same to Doncaster forcing its closure.
Welsh Development money might entice Jet 2

perhaps neither CWL or DSA did well for Wizz. I imagine Welsh development money attracted Wizz in the first place. There was a similar incentive to Flybe for those two airports.

Speculation seems to be rife on a few other forums, with one poster on one saying he’d heard from someone at the airport, LS came for a look around and want to base 8 aircraft from S24. Can’t see that personally, any base they’d open if its true would be 3 or 4 aircraft max.

I was told jet2 wanted the airport to pay them to come in and the reply was 'no way' we don't do that.

Wish they would. The other 2 aren’t doing that much.

Wish they would. The other 2 aren’t doing that much. Leeds and Manchester are their closest together operations.Leeds is their original base. Even in the Southeast, they only operate from Stansted. Unlikely, logically, they'd have 2 bases so close together. Only my personal observation.

The 'Jet2 are moving to Liverpool' is an old nutmeg. Every now and again the, what we now seem to call 'false news', formerly 'unsubstantiated rumourmongers', wheel this one out for a fresh airing. It is known that the Liverpool management do wish to attract Jet2, however Jet2 management historically have never expressed any real interest in Liverpool. Stalemate. A situation some would like to change, although no amount of day-dreaming will make it happen - it is up to management teams, not us!
Although, if it should ever actually happen, then fantastic! In just the way Lufthansa eventually did. Until that time it just wishful thinking. We don't need a section for spreading rumours, this intended to be a forum for exchanging factual information (past and present) and sharing images; not false news and members wish-lists.
Admin.
PS I note that the poster who suggested a separate section for discussion of rumours has deleted his request.

Some years ago, when I was working at Manchester, I bumped into (almost literally) Ian Doubtfire, who is Jet2's Business Development Director. Ian and I had worked together for Air UK at BLK in the late 70s. After the usual pleasantries had been exchanged, I asked him whether Jet2 would ever consider operating from LPL. His answer was quite categorically, 'No', simply because of their operation at MAN. They were about to become self-handling (which was why he was there) and this is an important factor for them, and incidentally one of the reasons why they do not divert to LPL. They have a real fixation about self-handling. So setting up a base anywhere becomes an expensive business for them.
I know; never say never, and it's aviation we're talking about, but I just don't see it happening in the short term.

7 years ago, the Jet2 all Boeing fleet carried “proud to fly Boeing “ stickers. They now fly Airbus aircraft as well as Boeings and have well over a hundred Airbus aircraft on order. 7 years is a long time in business.

This may have changed as Jet2 have been handles by Swissport at Bristol, although I believe they plan to self hand at some point.

Contents of a Press Release by XLR:
“XLR expands Liverpool Executive Jet Centre XLR Liverpool has announced a significant expansion of its Liverpool private terminal in response to growing demand for its expert handling.
XLR has listened to what it’s VIP customers have asked for and what they require and with this second investment it’s clear that the facilities are far superior at Liverpool than other FBO’s in order to enhance the passenger experience XLR Liverpool will increase in size by 30% to accommodate more passengers with an extended lounge, more seating, enhanced crew facilities and a VIP bar serving cocktails and local alcoholic beverages for passengers to enjoy with our compliments prior to take off or after landing The private security wing at the other end of the facility will also be extended to speed up transit, particularly on larger charter flights. There will be bigger areas both before and after security to reduce waiting times and enhance the passenger experience. The investment is being driven in part by XLR Liverpool’s growing popularity for handling sports-related charter flights, including football and rugby. XLR Liverpool has just celebrated its fifth birthday after opening in March 2018 to provide more choice for private and charter passengers and to bring a full service FBO to an Airport that required change and a dedicated service to corporate jets
A year later XLR introduced a dedicated private security wing, the first of its kind at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, and our latest investment is further evidence of XLR Liverpool’s growing popularity. In addition to a large VIP lounge, dedicated crew facilities and private security screening, it includes VIP Arrivals and PETS (Pet Travel Scheme) clearance. The lounges are modern, with lots of natural light with luxurious furnishings to make every passenger and crew member feel like they are at home when they visit us
Passengers can park their car in the clean secure care park or be dropped and collected by chauffeur driven car right outside the door to the Jet Centre Work on XLR Liverpool’s expansion is underway and is expected to be completed in June. It will remain open throughout the duration of the works.“

They seem to be constructing a small something in the picnic area by gate 3. Not sure what it is.
