Route 500
Not sure if it's a Merseytravel contract or if Arriva are to get competition from ACE Travel on the above route. If all goes to plan the first ACE bus will operate on the 27th January. They plan to run daily except Xmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Years Day.

Do we know if it will use the same route?
(I seem to remember the 1930s Airport bus was a Dennis Ace)

Not sure about that, all I know is it's registered as a limited stop 500. However, if it's a Merseytravel gap filler then it will be. If it's commercial then I hope it's not in direct competition with Arriva, as past experience has shown they tend to operate 5 minutes in front, which is no good for anyone but ACE.

One of KLM's problems was that a number of the bigger business accounts on Merseyside did not support the service and remained using other carriers from Manchester.
I was surprised at the number of Lufthansa passengers from Merseyside quoted in the article that is in excess of the numbers carried by KLM from Liverpool at their peak. This number could be the base for the launch of services from Liverpool. The problem is the effect a Liverpool operation on the Manchester numbers. It is more economical to operate larger aircraft to Manchester rather than to split the operation. Lufthansa want to create a new hub in Berlin would want to expand that route from Manchester. Are there other UK regional airpots that the airline would consider before Liverpool?
I would expect, though, many more people from Merseyside to support a Lufthansa operation than supported KLM.

True, and as its only 35 miles up the road their extremely unlikely to bother. We've got to face it, passenger throughput at LJLA is too small at the moment for any major European hub airline to contemplate using us with MAN so close. Having said that competition is a marvelous tool especially if it were to hit at a 5th of Lufthansa's regional capacity. Perhaps LJLA's management might like to spend a few more years building passenger throughput through concentrating on what it does best. That being, low cost facilities/fees coupled with very quick turnrounds. Design future expansion to do that with both major hub and loco airlines in mind and they could be on for a winner. In the meantime, if they really do want German connections they should be talking to other German loco's such as Germania.

There must be an opportunity for Liverpool after Jaguar Land Rover announced at the weekend a £1billion deal to start building cars near Shanghai. JLR have now signed a letter of intent to build cars in Saudi Arabia. This and the promised China factory could lead to some cargo business in the future.

what happened to the good news soon bit? * - Easyjet to sign a new contract * - Wizz signed a new contract * - Ryanair signed new 'contract for growth' that will grow its LPL base from 2 million pax per year to over 3 million

Probably because there have been 3 flights in the past week doing exactly that......

Can someone please explain to me by PM the relevance of 'Vctr's' recent post re-freight into Manchester airport and of 'John Oakes' original post that elictied the reply? Just exactly what is the 'it' - reading back I get no clues from earlier posts? If not then I'll delete both posts as meaningless and confusing.
If 'vctr' is stating, as he appears to be, that three dedicated charter loads destined for Liverpool complanies have passed through Manchester in the past week, and he has proof of the loads content/destination, then can he post the details of the flights and loads so that the information can be passed on to LJLA management.
What a waste of my 'landmark' 2,000th post on the forum!

Viscount.
As seen as you are havung trouble, here it is in simple form.
User LPL stated JLR have new plants abroad, and wondered if this could increase flights and freight.
Johnoakes then said that maybe it will just go through MAN.
I then stated that maybe he is right, as 2x ATR and 1x AN12 have been through MAN with parts for JLR. Ido have the proof, but the exact loadings of individual pallets are, understandably, confidential.
Im sorry this offended you so....

Thank you vctr-precise and correct. speculation is permitted--as is confirmation. Suggest you unwind a bit.--and go less heavy on the delete button. censorship is only good if used to prevent abuse--NOT harmless free speech. It--refered to the preceeding post. What else could IT mean?

I Would like a a LPL open discussion section opened up if possible on this Forum. To be honest the lack of gossip good or bad, has made this forum very boring, in the past it was fun reading the various ideas members posted.
I understand you get the odd LPL v MAN battle, but in my opinion it added to the overall enjoyment of this otherwise excellent forum..
You will always get idiots on sites like these, who want to upset people, that's what discussion sometimes brings.. good and bad..
Anyway, if possible could we see an open discussion section opened - i think it would be welcome by many members...
May be we Could we have a vote on it ...?
PS I hope you all have a great Xmas and New Year.
