User LPL stated JLR have new plants abroad, and wondered if this could increase flights and freight. JLR dont have new plants abroad yet, A deal has been agreed to build a new plant in China with production starting in 2014/2015. They are studying the potential of setting up a facility in Saudi Arabia and if it does go ahead, then production will not start until 2017. Correct*2.

May be we Could we have a vote on it ...? I think most of us are missing the good old banter and being able to create new threads but ultimately it's up to those who administer the site regardless of the outcome of any vote. With the additional administrators/moderators at the sites disposal anything untoward can be nipped in the bud very quickly if need be. Perhaps they may get together to discuss the possibility of it's return or even an experimental period to see how things pan out. Either way, (although I'm in favour of it's return and therefore would vote, yes) I'd rather have what we have now than nothing at all.

Route 501
Any bus nuts, plane spotters with an interest, or general LJLA supporters who haven't already got photo's of vehicles operating on this route need to do so quickly. Funding for the route is to be withdrawn and it could be gone by the end of January.

In times of austerity, to see the fuel guzzling bendies going up and down empty, on tax payers money (if i am wrong on this correct me) is just shocking. Well done to the person who decided this. The Airport is served perfectly well from South parkway.

If this service is withdrawn does that mean there is no way (other than taxi) to get from Liverpool south parkway to the airport? Therefore making south parkway redundant in serving the airport?

Well done to the person who decided this. The Airport is served perfectly well from South parkway. You are correct in your thinking. What makes it even worse is the fact that the airport, after crying out for land transport links, want to charge (or are charging) bus company's to operate from there. In the light of this and as a tax payer I whole heartedly object to any public funding whatsoever being given to the airport for land transport links. If they are charging bus company's to service the airport then any none profit making services (such as the 501) should be funded out of these proceeds or airport funds and not by us tax payers.

Bus companies are charged, I am told, to use the likes of the bus station at Liverpool One.

Yes, the airport is served well from LSP by the other services, however they are not non-stop and pick up at every stop on their route (not that this is necessarily bad as there are only a few stops on the route) but the 501 service was introduced at the request of the train operators and they only introduced a stop at LSP on the condition that this service was provided. They could decide not to stop at LSP now this service has been withdrawn. I hope not.

Good point, but I think LSP is now established on the network, and if the numbers are to be believed is a busy station, although saying that, we all thought LJLA was bullet proof not so long ago so nothing is impossible.

At the risk of repeating the obvious, there is a crying need for a direct rail service from North Wales and Shropshire to LSP. This would develop the use of LSP and increase the awareness of LJLA.

Its down to the Halton Chord and everyone and his dog knows about what can become of it, but nobody wants to spend the money to go onto the next step.
